    Fair????

Maybe the girls scored the "appeal" part in the assessment criteria.. (since your teacher is a he). Seeing the principal is not always worth the trouble.

    School..Anyone else sick of it?

Me, i'm sick of it. But since I can't do anything about it, i'll just make myself love it. go self-hypnotism!! ever had one of those fantasies in chemistry classes, where the pretty girl you had a crush with in front of you and yourself, would just be teleported into some unknown tropical...

    A basic but weird question?

But, you know, this might be why people say it is undefined. For example, for division : you have 10 apples. You want to give 2 to each person. You give 2 to the first one, then 2 to the second one etc. etc. You can only give it to 5 people. Hence 10/2 = 5. But for 10/0, You...

    Just a suggestion...

How about, we all have a thread with a list of people that wants themselves to be available to be contacted for maths questions? (icq, msn) etc Since trial is coming soon, i'd have no problem sparing 15 minutes doing some maths question, since I need practice before the trial, and more...

    Conics

I did that that way too, and it seems that I can't find any easier way to do it. I gave it up since it seems very messy, and that there could probably be another way to do it.

did you go through finding Q and Q', their tangent equations, and the intercept, and put it together?

    Parabola

If i could write that I would write that, but i was thinking of this: If the above question appears in an exam, and I got up to the point of proving the nature of turning point. But I already know it is a minimum, I just don't know how to prove it. Then just say, that an idea came up to my...

    Complex Number Q

not sure if you still need it, but cos(A) - cos(B) = -2sin((A+B)/2)sin((A-B)/2) I managed to memorise these, but I'm not sure if they'll be of any help during the any tests?

    Fave subject???

you people have favourite subjects? starting from year 12, i have no more favourite subjects. Last year in my maths class, I didn't do any single homework, brought food to class, ate my lunch in class. And once the teacher even brought his own music to class :D how I pity the fact that I...

    Q. Trig and Series

I got all the way to: (cos2x - sin2x)(cosx + sinx) = cos(2x) but, this seems to be a very tricky question. I'm not sure..

    Related Rates QN

the distance from the spot is increasing, therefore dy/dx is an increase, in other words positive, i guess. Unless you want to take that the distance from destination is decreasing which means dy/dx is negative. but it's always easier to use the first part. who likes negative gearing...

here's the solution:: let [x] be the distance of motor from intersection [dx/dt] = 40 km/h at the beginning, [x=40], but one hour later, [x=80] let [y] be the distance of train from intersection [dy/dt] = 50 km/h at the beginning, [y=30], but one hour later, [y=80] now let D...

    Parabola

    ahh.. i see QT^2 = [16a^2 (t^2 + 1)^3] / t^4 differentiate it to find stationary points of QT^2, (my working would be a mess if I typed it hard, but you get the picture) d/dt = 16a^2[(t^2+1)^2 / t^5] * [ 2t^2 - 4] for d/dx = 0, 2t^2 - 4 = 0 hence, t^2 = 2 t =...

    Parabola

well.. I used the graph calculator, and found that for the minimum length of AB, t = 1.25 something.. irrational value. confusing question. How many marks would this be? (and if you were a marker, could you be kind enough to tell me how much mark would I have scored :D)
