doing option different from the class

oic.. great thanks then :) but looking at the syllabus book, it seems that they have a class practical involving a practical, that is assessed, on the option topic. I'm just hoping that my teacher won't be too pissed about having me doing some experiments on quanta to quarks when others do...

doing option different from the class

is that possible? is that allowed? is it advised against? Since this holiday i'm working my ass of for physics and the likes, i get to study ahead of my class. Now the problem is, that in week 3 next term, we'll have trial, and option topic will be included. We only have 3 weeks to cover the...

    need answer ASAP before monday..

1st experiment: we test the resistance on a light bulb. then we got asked questions whether it was an ohmic conductor or not. But we also need to answer the conclusions and theory etc.. 2nd experiment is semiconductor: test resistance and current and voltage of a thermister...

oic thank btw it turns out to be current heating effect, conductors and semicondutors. And i have to write the theory and conclusion of the experiment. any ideas on what i should write?

    need answer ASAP before monday..

thanks, i can rule out magnetic levitation since it will require my teacher to bring liquid nitrogen to class :) doesn't getting a spark to jump cause radiation, and that's supposed tobe dangerous to students? i remember people complaining of head pains when the teacher demonstrated the...

hey guys, i have a physics practical assessment tmrrw on ideas and implementation. worth 7.5% weighting. So you guys can tell me what it might be about, what i should do and any tips? thanks in advance, 7.5% is not big, but every little bit matters..

    Need help in Organising time!

I also find that the only way to know maths is to do heaps of questions. What other way are there? doing 10 past papers of 3unit or 4unit and then looking at the solution will help, but i'm going to do at least 20 each before the trial anyways :)

    3U Binomial crazyness

not so long ago someone posted a 3u question here in hoping to get more views. I reckon we should rename the forums? :) anyways here goes: find n if the coefficients of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th terms in the expansion of (1 + x)n are the successive terms of an Arithmetic Sequence...

    Hardest 4U topic

volumes, integration, graphs, complex no.s seems to be nothing compared to the other 4. But they can always get infinitely hard, so it's really hard to say. I voted the last opt.

    conics + arnold=?

unfortunately, solving equations may sometime be a pain in the ass :) I use T.Lee, and after doing all of the conics questions there and looking at the past HSC questions (by topic book), i feel that i didn't do enough, or maybe i was just seeing question 8s?

    Mathematics Extension 2

Is it an assessment task? I can hardly believe what i heard (oral assessment task for ext 2 maths..) let me guess, subbing in variables wrong, putting actual Y value for line-gradient formula (not Y1 or so..), mistakes between the eccentricity formula for ellipse and circles, and so many more..

Do you think EXT maths is cool?

how can ext2 be easier than ext1? that has been proven wrong from my class' results..

    Integration by Special Properties

I was just thinking that this question is a bit too trivial for the 4unit paper, by just giving in the sin2x = 2sinxcosx hint. Do you think so, or the exam writers can torture the student in the 3 hours any way they want?

    Log troubles

    seems like it.. 2lnx = lnx + lnx = ln(x2) similarly 0.5 ln (y) = ln(y0.5) 0.5 ln (y) = ln(squareroot(y)); hence, 2lnx - 1/2 ln(y) = ln(x2/y0.5)

    integral and derivative help

    but if he's still year 11, then it's ok :) btw, for question one, ln(x / x2 + 1) = lnx - ln(x2 + 1) right? then it's easy to differentiate.

i gave "explanations", but of course, it wasn't good enough :o wasted my time writing an essay about complex numbers and their properties on a q7..
