It will only scale badly if you do badly in it. But if you do well in it then it will be more benificatal for you. Also if it is assumed knowledge, you can still do the course, you just will have to do a Mathematics course as well. I think half year to 1 year.

First. Why would you not consider General Mathematics? Okay well the only other way you could find out whether you understand the basic concepts is to go to a library and read in a few books about Mathematics or see a friend in a higher year and just ask them about it.

I bet they are good. And plus i make all my own notes. But its still good to be able to refer to notes that were prepared by a HSC textbook company.

I disagree with you on some points. Yes these students do see it as an opportunity to show their own intellectualism, but it is a social activity. If your're debating you are in front of a audience, you are also talking to fellow students. Most of them will do very well when they leave...
