    Finding the gradient question

The gradient wasn't ~3.5*10^-6, it was just ~3.5 since the y- axis was Force (10^-6 N).

didnt get coop interview for acturarial

I'm not really concerned that I didn't get the offer, I don't want to do actuarial studies anyway. Stupid thing is, I just realised that I want to do Engineering, yet I didn't apply for any Engineering scholarships.

didnt get coop interview for acturarial

    That's discrimination. I'm complaining :p

didnt get coop interview for acturarial

I didn't get called back for Actuarial either, and that was the only one I applied for. My ranks were good, 1/3 for 4-unit, 1/14 for 3-unit, 3/21 for physics, 3/28 for business studies. I was sort of wondering why I didn't get the callback, then I read the photocopy of my application...

plotting the bloody TRAJECTORY of a satellite...

That's the same as what I did, although I'm not too sure if it's right.

    the powerline question

Our physics class went on the most budget school excursion ever to cover this part. We walked out to the front of the school and looked at power poles for a few minutes while the teacher pointed out the details. It turned out very helpful :)

    multiple choice

I misread the bit that said it was accelerating, so I chose A which is obviously wrong :S

wat do u reckon u scored

I put my mark down *before* I looked through the paper and realise all of my stupid mistakes.

    Michael Jordan

Another part of the passage said "he knows the law of physics that keep him [in the air]". I basically said this was a load of shit, no law of physics will "keep him in the air", considering that the passage implied that he was just hovering.

    induction motor or cooktop?

Yeh.... I dunno. I've had enough thinking about physics now. There's really no point, considering we can't change our answers and you can only get depressed by picking out what you got wrong.

    induction motor or cooktop?

It would be with the wheel. The question refers to electromagnetic braking, and it works by inducing eddy currents in the wheel of the train and slowing it down. An induction motor works by a dynamic magnetic field inducing eddy currents in the rotor thinger, making it spin.

plotting the bloody TRAJECTORY of a satellite...

You can't just draw Earth and Mars on the opposite side of the planet. Remember that Mars has a larger orbit so it has a longer period than earth (r3=kT2). In the time the earth travels half of it's orbit, judging by the diagram Mars would have only orbitted about 1/3 of...

    induction motor or cooktop?

An induction motor spins because of the magnetic fields associated with eddy currents interacting with the permanent magnetic field.

    induction motor or cooktop?

Induction motor, although a lot of people will say otherwise.

plotting the bloody TRAJECTORY of a satellite...

You can't say from that diagram what way the earth was spinning, because if you were to look at it from the opposite side everything would be the opposite.

    smh.com.au

The people that the author of that article was talking to think very differently of pretty much else I've talked to. It was a fine question, it was obvious that when it said he could be in the air for 2.5 seconds, you had to figure out how high he would have to jump (since it said something...

    the powerline question

I read over that about 5 minutes before the exam... (A) was a continual earth line. It doesn't carry current, usually, but in the event of a lightning strike it carries all excess electricity to the earth. (B) was an insulator, and the shape is a series of discs, or bells, to keep the...

change in current in DC motor

Back emf is not produced when the motor is prevented from turning, so total voltage is greater. Resistance is constant, so current is directly proportional to voltage. Since voltage is greater, current is greater. That, but over about 15 lines.
