Some faculties take longer to open up their blackboard courses. I enrolled in all four of my courses last Monday, and I still only have two available.
They should be available within the next week.
Dammit.. the only reason I went today was to have me some of that ice cream.. but we forgot what time it was on, so missed out. Was it deliciously nitrogenous?
Haha.. don't worry, I've thrown out all of my Kudos' and have no memory of your year.. except a few of the end of year 12 activities you guys threw together.
Oooh my area!
I'm only starting second year now so I can't tell you much, but I can tell you that first year has nothing to do with Forensics. If you have absolutely no interest in Law, it could be a bit trying at times, but if you're really eager it should be no problem at all.
All up...
From memory, the multi-story carpark used to be full after about 9am from Monday to Thursday (Friday is usually ok to get a park). If it's still closed when uni goes back, and you're keen on getting a (good) park, you might have to start getting into the routine of getting to uni before 8:30am.
You're able to connect to the University network via wireless connection in the AIC (Auchmuty Information Common) and the CT building. This page will help you out with setting up your laptop: http://www.newcastle.edu.au/services/library/aic/laptop.html
You can download anything you want, but...
You don't usually get a list, go here and search for your subjects (some aren't up yet): http://www.ucb.net.au
If you buy your textbooks, they're yours. Keep them at home, draw in them, burn them at the end of semester, whatever you like.
Although it doesn't say it on the website, I'm pretty sure that tutorial is optional. Last year they held help sessions for people to come with their own questions.
Needless to say, it would be pretty harsh for them to make you come at 8:00 AM on a Saturday!
