Mojako mate... too much 4U! But yes, barring all the induction... that's about right. The fundamental principle of relativity (that's newtonian relativity) states that an observer travelling in an inertial frame cannot tell whether they are moving with uniform velocity or not. or no...

    Post your Major Work!

Hey thats a neat idea. You have the whole class make on ultra big good work. And then get into art-express as a class effort.

So we ARE allowed to send the statement by email right? Except the signature has to be faxed or mailed.. It's just ambiguous how it says "Alternatively it would assist if you can email"...

    Question from 2002 HSC

The answer is end X. I think jezzabelle explained it best. You do the whole lenz's law induction thing, and the thumb points to Y. This means 'positive' charge is culminating at point Y.. and negative charge is accumulating at X. Hence X is negative.

    hydrogen ground state

Well.. the Lyman series go to n=1.. aren't they visible emissions? but technically n=1 IS the ground state, being the lowest level in the hydrogen atom. ( Barring degeneracy)

    omg you got GTA already? on PS2? .... and you didn't answer my first question! Thanks man.. except i got clockwise for C. and er A) wouldn't it be -> B x area of circle - B x area of rectangle = 0.065 ( pi x 0.35^2 - 0.5 x 0.6) = 5.5 x 10^-3 Wb.m^-2

A crap load of Induction Q's

i think Lenz's law and induction is one of the most confusing topics in HSC physics.. Well lets say you move a single rod perpendicularly through a field. Since Lenz's law says its gonna make a magnetic field that tries to oppose the movement, then you put your palm in the opposite direction...

A crap load of Induction Q's

Yep thats right, although for those square loop ones.. its easier to take a test point on the side length that's closest to the centre of the field, and then use the right hand PALM rule. at least that's what i find... But if you use the grip rule, then you have the thumb pointing opposite...

A crap load of Induction Q's

Thanks, but for the second one, i got all clockwise. The third one, what do you mean by "the bottom half of rod"? why is any emf induced only in the "bottom half" and the fourth, i got an anti-clockwise current.

    Question from 2002 HSC

Yes it does. The emf induced is such that is produces it's own field that opposes the change. This opposing field would in turn give it a force opposing the direction of motion. So by using reverse inspection and the palm rule, you get your palm facing downwards, the magfield still the same, and...

What's the effect of a uniform magnetic field on the ring? The rest are pretty straightforward, but a few weird things i dont get:

    AC motor

A(n?) universal motor is just the DC motor, and uses the commutator. A synchronous motor uses slip rings and the normal AC motor style. Where as induction motors are like the squirrel cage, or three phase AC motors. It's like.. kinda self starting, where the magnetic field rotates...

2004 CSSA trial strange questions... help!!

for Q10 - if the Mag Flux DENSITY is constant, but the area that the coil cuts it changes... then the magnetic flux changes. Since flux = BA and .. er.. its always a smooth sine graph for these kinda things.
