How does Einstein's theory of special relativity explain MichelMorley experiment?

Actually I think what DigitalFortress was tryign to say was that just because the speed of light is constant doesnt mean that there is no ether, just that theres no need for one (i.e. light's properties can be explained without). The reason for this is because I think some scientists were...

    Anyone else?

I always fo projectiles the 3 unit way now. Its much easier because I actually understand the forces acting on the object, etc. The physics way is just subbing numbers into formulas, and its harder to understand in certain questions

    solutions to hsc 2000

I reckon if someone posted them up then theyd be infringing on MANSW copyright (presuming they use that book). I say lets write up our own solutions (as was done for the CSSA trial) I will start off, its good revision for me 1. (a)2.08 (b) x+7=>3 .: x =>-4 (on the number line coloured...

    Positive Definite Question

Thats because when you do the equation, there are always two possibilities you must consider, i.e. either -12< k <12 OR k<-12 or k>12 sub in a number (e.g. zero or 1) to see where the solution lies.

    m-m experiment

Yeah, I have changed my view, after doing some more reading and discussing. The MM experiment did not disprove the ether but it did support Einstein's theory of Special Relativity because the theory explained the results that MM attained...So I suppose what you said is correct, that there is no...

help on a question from the 1993 2unit paper

Just a note, that must be the hardest ever 2 unit HSC exam, Followed by year 2000. The highest mark that year was 110/120 which gives you some indication of how difficult it was

Go through each of the topics in your text book and write down all the equations yourself, that way you learn them at the same time as making a list of all the fomulae u need :)

    Multimedia Study thread

A switch sends incoming data packets in a network to their precise destination, whereas a hub simply sends data packets to all nodes in the network. A hub is therefore less efficient and less intelligent than a switch, and is mainly used for smaller networks. New Question: Define and...

    Technetium-99m

Well from this site: http://www.epa.gov/radiation/radionuclides/technetium.htm They seem to suggest that Tc-99m is the most common isotope of Technetium-99. Technetium-99 apparently has no known uses, so I would think the name of the medical isotope is Tc-99m NOT Tc-99... Also I think...
