What happens if you state rank a subject? Is the only benefit, having your name on the website as a top 10/20 student? Or do you receive a certificate of some sort.. just wondering haha.

Anyone know what the state rank cut off for biology is? It's a course with more than 10,000 student so a state rank would be top 20. I know that in 2009, HSC mark of 96 was 12th in NSW. Does anyone else have any other information they can share?

I find it difficult to believe that the ATAR is a ranking, and that obtaining a score of 95 ATAR = being in the top 5% of the state. Is the number of people who receive a mystery mark (below 30 ATAR) really equal to the number of people who receive an ATAR of 70+ ? Do as many people get below...
