So do you propose we free every alleged trafficker because there isn't enough evidence to charge them? (Yet there is no evidence that she didn't do it?) Something like that would surely undermine public confidence of the judicary. Undermining how Australia operates as a country is like suicide...
I don't know. But the judges may have to balance a few mitigating and aggravating factors. If their is standing statute on the matter, then there is no issue of debate at all.
That's because your going through customs. It's always better to be safe than sorry. What's unlocking your bag for the custom officer? Nothing compared to an unlocked bag which is an easy target for traffickers.
I don't know. The issue is that one should look after their own posessions. I don't know about everyone else, but that was hammered into my brain since I was a kid. Esp in an airport situation. Not putting locks in bags is suicide.
With great respect to the basic underlying notions of the legal system, do you really think that it is possible for the prosecution to prove one's guilt in relation to drug charges? (unless there is very damning evidence (ie. Voice recordings etc))
