Friend of mine did three sciences in 2010 HSC. Ended up with the three Sciences on three consecutive exam days. Needless to say, he was pretty pissed.

I find that a knowledge of chord progression, and general melody and counter melody really helps when sight reading. Because you can more easily 'figure' out what the notes are.

You mean sight read? Yeah sight reading is difficult... in most instances. Especially when you have key signatures and when a 'sharp' or 'flat' is actually still a white key...

Well if the teacher gets them from past HSC papers... you look at past HSC papers. I don't see what the problem is. If you don't know where to find past HSC papers, there should be books in your school or at the bookstore which have HSC papers and solutions. Or, you can go on the Board of...

I know for ECON1101 and FINS1613, lectures are based on the textbook - so it's nice to have an extra bit of reading to supplement the lectures which just summarise.
