And yes. So if you're doing Actuarial as a Commerce major - do MATH1151/1251. Anything else, you take the standard MATH1141/1241. You should be taking courses at a Higher level if you're an Adv. Maths student.

Once you get in Adv. Maths at UNSW - you must keep a WAM above 70.

You take 1151 if you're doing an Actuarial major for Commerce, iirc.

You're stuck with your 70 as your external mark. And if 70 is the highest mark that anyone gets in your entire class in the HSC, your final HSC mark is 70.

I think they changed the syllabus though. Yeah. One double-sided A4 sheet of paper. It's so you don't spend half of the exam going "oh what's the expected value of ____ distribution?" and basically not being able to do a, say... Wald Test Statistic question which needs E(X) as an input.

Optiver... ah, them. I went to their stall during open day and they told me about "The Exam". 1 shot only. If you don't pass - you can never ever apply again... NEVER... EVER EVER And it's all mental arithmetic stuff too.

You can put whatever you want - it's like the midsem exam. But as always, they'll take your 'exam notes' (well, double sided A4 paper) just to make sure you didn't put anything fishy on. hah, another math2901 student here. nice.

Well, I'd put that because there's no job out there that's "Mathematician". There are jobs out there which require mathematical skill and don't have the title "Mathematician". There's tons of data now, so for Statistics at least - you can be damn sure of a job there.

Well, we'll see. They do moderate the marks a bit so that not too many people get an HD, for example.

Make sure you're strong at maths because I can assure you everyone feels like dying in second year maths. It's a very high step up.
