    Cancel some of the HSC?

I thought it was bad enough that NESA makes english mandatory. Jesus christ, NESA is really showing their flair for bias. Although this article is only speculative, so hopefully this won't happen.

    chem/phys b6 difficulty

Looking at Talent 100 data, 7.8% of phys students get 90+, but 0.8% get 95+, so expect 1 95+ for each 10 scores of 90+ in physics. 10.5% of chem students get 90+, but 0.8% get 95+, so expect 1 95+ for each 10-15 scores of 90+ in chem. All numbers here are HSC marks btw. I think it's safe to...

    EDROLO

Quite useful in my opinion, a good supplement to the textbook and class resources, and it has good practice questions too. If the school paid for it I definitely recommend you use it.

How much do the gaps in ranks matter when averaging out assessment and exam marks.

B gets 70 externally but 95 internally. Their internal rank is 2nd, so their internal mark assumes the 2nd highest external mark. C gets 70 internally and 95 externally. Realistically this would never happen because what are the chances the highest external marks are 98, 95... and then 70...

No worries, I wasn't desperate, just curious. This thread is pretty active so I'll probably get an answer anyways.

    Subject Selections Yr11

If you looked at chemistry vs physics yourself and feel more comfortable doing physics, go for it. People saying that chemistry is better for x, or physics is better if y are generalising for people that are undecided, but it looks like phys is what stands out to you, so you should pick that.

    Scaling for Maths Ext 1 & 2

Quick question - if you're doing past hsc practice papers and (for example) you average 90% in several past papers, does this mean you can roughly expect a HSC mark of 90% for that subject, assuming you continue at the same level? In other words, is doing and marking past HSC exam external...

    Trigonometry Help

Either jimmysmith560's answer, or that the equation is supposed to be 1 - (sin^2xcos^2x/sin^2x) In which case you get 1 - cos^2x = sin^2x

Can't be half at ruse, their median ATAR is ~98 99.2 In hindsight, you're close, probably a bit less than half the cohort gets 99.5+

    Raw mark and what band

So this may be a stupid question, but I always thought that Band 6 in any subject is a HSC mark of 90+%. Is this correct or incorrect? Or is there a difference between the raw mark referred to here and the HSC subject mark?

    Practice Trial HSC Questions HELP

    c) The way I did it was using the general term as follows; 1) Find the term that expresses each term by indexing a variable k. 2) Find the value of x that represents x^2 (in this case the term indexed by k=4) 3) Sub back in to the expression Let me know if you don't fully understand how to...

What's the best way to self-mark extended response questions?

I'm asking this in the eco forum, but it can be applied widely to all the HSIE subjects, or most subjects really. I've been writing a few practice essays for eco recently, and I want to know the best way to see how good they are and if I'm improving. Right now I just compare it to general...

    should i keep 6 subjects

Keep in mind that 2 units of english will always be counted towards your atar (boo!). So assuming you have 12 units, there will be one subject that won't count towards your ATAR, and it won't be english, so keep this in mind.

    I really need a 99 atar

I think the questioner was asking what uni degree you plan on doing, not subjects
