Almost done BCom (finance), what other degree would you do?

You can probably get into philosophy through post-graduate research into finance - an ANU lecturer I was talking to went from Econs(Hons) to PhD Philosophy. The 'arts' areas would be alot easier to get into than sciences - you'd be able to get post graduate qualifications rather than starting...

STILL trying to figure out which course to do, advice appreciated

I'll be happy doing high frequency stuff I think - I still have alot to learn about quantitative finance. I figure I'll be working in finance, nuclear physics, logistics or military (which my girlfriend and mum don't like.) Wouldn't mind designing an anti-asylum seeker missile network - I know...

    UNSW WAMs questions

Minimum threshold is 60 (credit average) - no idea why. 80+ is what you'd want for IB to secure an interview without problems though with a distinction average you should be fine.

STILL trying to figure out which course to do, advice appreciated

Depends on what 'type' of trading you do. Firms hire people who are quick thinking and analytical - one of my IB resume books has a resume from someone with BA Hons(English) who is trying to get into IB. That being said people from a strong mathematical background are still prefered in those...

STILL trying to figure out which course to do, advice appreciated

Risk modelling, high-freq trading, quant trading, venture capital, consulting or just a high-up role in research and development. I'm reading Paul Wilmott's books now which will tell me if quant finance is going to be interesting enough for me otherwise I'll be looking at cybernetic engineering.

    UNSW WAMs questions

Get 80+ and you'll be fine with good extracurriculars - RBA and ANZ want 60+ I think though.

To be a games developer you need advanced maths. ANU/UNSW - I'd go to ANU.

Best degrees for atheists who want to debate creationists?

YouTube - You're too stupid to be an atheist. Physics and biology.

No I haven't done it. Looks EXTREMELY easy - very light workload and easy marks (arts subjects ftl.)

    good math websites

The first list is good - I wasn't sure about the second link though I had it in my favourites so I might aswell put it in. Chicago undergraduate mathematics bibliography is another list I didn't add for some reason. I agree with you regarding the lecture notes - MIT's first course in Calculus...

    differentiating by first principle.

There is an alogorithm to doing it (set of ~6 cases in which you do a particular action) which involve multiplying by the denominator/denominator etc but I can't recall them - try looking them up

    MQ vs UNSW in commerce

Don't know why you'd want to go to UNSW - General Education is sooooo bad!
