    Tutors

Re: The p00n thread I sort of disagree. Personally I've never had a tutor because for me, I don't need one because I've got good teachers at school/know past students/can teach myself. Some other people I know though have crap teachers etc. and without a tutor, they would be stuffed. I think...

    One. Month.

Syd Grammar 2008 3U Q7 is very nice- I just did that two days ago. English: Go over essays/modules to remember everything again. Write another belonging creative Maths: Should be fine- just do papers Economics: Just need to write an essay or two and then just revise the course lightly Chem...

    rankings question

Oh my bad. I thought they were allowed to send decimals. What happens then with schools like Ruse? I know say at our school we have 5 equal firsts for 3U maths- I'm assuming at Ruse etc. it'd be even worse because the top enders would be getting either full or close to full every test.

    rankings question

Depends on how your school submits marks. Our school doesn't submit decimals- it rounds off at the end of the year which causes quite a few ties but they could theoretically split on decimals. Not sure how many decimals it goes to though but in your case, imo if you were 0.02% apart after a...

What's everyone doing in the holidays?

Tbh guys, I would take this chance to relax and enjoy your last holiday. Defs go hard in the summer holidays etc. but I wouldn't recommend killing yourselves now. If you want to, maybe do some light reading but yeah, don't go nuts imo.

    Probability of Divisibility.

Oh ok- cool. That was a nice question- thanks Realise :) And I didn't know that the sum of cubes was the triangular numbers squared- I wrote out the first ten terms of the cubes and noticed that haha so I learnt something new as well..

    Probability of Divisibility.

Crap lol- I got all that (except for the digital root- not sure what that means) but I ended up with 2/3 (originally typo in previous post but I edited it...). Where did I make the mistake? (I'll try and post my working- give me a sec)

    Is it 2/3?

What's better, Cambridge 4u or Patel?

I've never used Patel but the Terry Lee + Cambridge + past paper combo has served me well so far. I tend to teach myself the topic from Cambridge and then our school does it in Terry Lee.

HOME OR LIBARY - which is the better place to study for you?

Home. Then I can go get food whenever I want, go on the net, go outside and kick a ball etc.

    improving atar in the hsc

Pretty sure you don't go to Baulko because you'd know your school rank for sure and you wouldn't have an estimate of around 95 with those marks because apparently Baulko marks pretty harsh so yeah...

    improving atar in the hsc

Marks honestly don't mean much because we don't know the difficulty of your schools tests and how hard they mark. What is your school rank and your ranks at school?

Year 12 2012 Chit Chat Thread

Why would you go phys tutor the night before a business exam? And better luck next time bro- I'm sure everyone would have found it hard as well if you did.

Record of completing Q1-Q4 of any HSC trial

This thread is actually making me wonder how fast I can actually do it. Anyone want to race? Do questions 1-4 of 2011 HSC and post your time- do it honestly though (anyone posting a time of 3 mins is just being a retarded troll). You can't skip questions though to save time- you have to do each...

    Tips to achieve 99.95?

Tbh, for a 40's school, you'd want first in everything I think and then do well in externals. For OP, just general- note that a .95 is extremely hard to get. By definition only 50 people in the whole state can get one so don't build all your hopes around it. For .95, you want around 95+ in all...

    abc conjecture proved?

Yeah this is the standard proof for n=2 (I think I posted that a few posts up). Its harder to prove it more generally.

    abc conjecture proved?

That's fairly neat actually- I like it :) What I was referring to is the general AM-GM. Can that be done with circle geo? You can prove the case for n=2 in two lines starting with (root a-rootb)^2 is greater than or equal to zero

    abc conjecture proved?

Yeah 1998 from memory. It was also in Syd Grammar 2003 (different proof) and one other paper which is the one I'm referring to (forgot which one though)

    abc conjecture proved?

Really? Can you show me- this would actually be fascinating. Nah unfortunately though I had to do the question that way- it had a hence bit etc. (though I don't know of any other way to do it)
