    2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon

@Fawun- do you know circle geometry? If so, there's a nice question that Carrot showed me that you could try (though it could be too difficult...)

    2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon

Re: 2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon Seriously don't worry about this- we won't laugh at you (well not too hard anyway :p). Trust though, any mistake you make, I would have made worse. You should see some shockers I've done, both in maths tests and even on this forum.

    2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon

Re: 2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon @Fawun- small hint. There's more than one circle in the picture- there's the one that has its centre in the square in the middle and four quarter circles from the outside if that makes sense.

    ATAR estimate please :)

Why? Its not even funny- its just retarded when you post stuff like this. And OP- its a bit hard to tell because we can't tell how much maths will pull you down. I'd probs go between 92-94, but with a big improvement in maths, this could jump.

Re: 2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon I personally thought that was hard- especially for year 9 level

Sounds like a good plan. And can does anyone know how hard 2006 HSC 4U was in comparison to other years- I just did it and it wasn't that bad so I want to know how it stacks against other papers. Thanks guys

    ATAR Estimate

Wait sorry- do you want us to give you an ATAR estimate based off your predictions for exam/assessments marks (which we could do from an ATAR calc.) or do you want us to see whether we agree with your exam/assessment mark predictions and then form a new ATAR estimate?

Please don't let me influence what you are planning on doing. The main thing I try to convey is that there is no one size fits all approach- you have to do what works for you. You've got some time to work out what works for you before the assessments become too demanding/important- this is your...

For me personally, I prefer reading notes that are comprehensive and cover everything so I can understand where everything comes from etc. If that means they are longer, then that's a compromise I'm personally willing to make. Not sure about you guys though?

Actually yeah was just about to edit my post lol- I fail whaled again sorry. My point was that you don't need to write your own notes but yeah you are correct, all the notes I look over for phys/chem are around 160 pages so your point is right. For eco though I just read the textbook.

I disagree with this. I don't think marks have a very strong correlation with the length of your notes. Like I don't write notes for eco and I topped it at Tech by a fairly comfortable margin and I also know that none of the top five in either phys or chem at our school write their own notes. At...

I would hazard a guess and say yes, you would miss out. Your internal would probs still be reported at 100 (depending on the mark gap between you and first) as it would be something like 99.6 which is rounded but when they calculate state ranks, they use decimals. I'm really not sure of this at...

What is a decent mark for ext1 maths?

Lol- my bad- didn't see that part of your post.

What is a decent mark for ext1 maths?

Like Carrot said- it all depends on the person. There are a lot of people that would be extremely happy (and very rightly so) with a B6; there are others who would be disappointed. I always try to look at these things in terms of individual potential and doing your best. If there is someone...

But classical greek has literally no relevance to modern day greek at all... I like my current subs tbh- I actually enjoy them. But yeah, the scaling would have been nuts haha

    Exam Questions

Practice. Practice. Practice. Make sure you have a general idea of all the theory- if you don't- go over it with a textbook/your teacher so you can understand the underlying ideas. Then do papers and mark them. Yeah- at the start you'll get raped in terms of marks but as you do more, you'll...

Implying Nexus is doing those subjects... But yeah, the classical subjects scale insanely- not as much now as they used to but back in the day, I think the extensions of both Latin and Classical Greek outscaled 4U.
