Economics is absolutely nothing to do with 4U maths or english. The maths involved is 2U/general level (there's no calculus) but you do have to be able to write coherent essays to get good marks. I do Advanced english and I came first in eco at a selective school so you definitely don't need to...

This. I personally prefer Cambridge though I also use Terry Lee. If you can get both, i would as I think they work well together and provide a good mix of questions.

In addition, they tend to show up as big markers. For example, there was a 7 mark question a few years back asking about a comparison between two batteries.

Try things involving leadership or communication. Try out for the SRC, do public speaking competitions etc in order to show that you can actually interact with others rather than just be good at academic stuff which doesn't neccessarily correlate with people skills.
