    Drawing derivative function.

There are a few ways to do this. The way I would do it is as follows. If this doesn't make sense, I'll try again: 1. Find stationary points on the graph (either by sight or by differentiating if you have the equation). These points are where dy/dx=0 so they are the x intercepts of the graph. 2...

Hey guys, I need help with complex numbers.

Sounds good. I've got to go now but if you post some interesting problems I'll have a go when I get back :)

Hey guys, I need help with complex numbers.

In this case yes because the definition of a square includes all sides being equal.

    general maths algebra question help!!?

I don't totally get your question. A negative in front of a fraction makes the fraction negative. This means that either the numerator is negative or the denominator is negative but not both : -(4/5)=(-4)/5=4/(-5) but DOES NOT equal (-4)/(-5) Does that make sense?

    general maths algebra question help!!?

Okay. What I'm guessing they mean is this: Q. 3p -(2/5) -2p -(1/4) =3 p=3+0.4+0.25 p=3.65 The problem with this is that the answer is 10x bigger (probably typo) and the question requires -1/4 instead of +1/4 in your original question.

    general maths algebra question help!!?

Do you mean (3p-2)/5-(2p+1)/4=3? If so, multiply both sides by 20 to eliminate the fractions: 4(3p-2)-5(2p+1)=60 12p-8-10p-5=60 2p=73 p=73/2

    Strength of 2012 cohorts

Who knows, maybe you can revolutionise your grade and get them to pick their game up...

    Strength of 2012 cohorts

I don't know that much about the strength of the '13 cohort. There are a few beasts at the top but I reckon our year is better than theirs...

    Strength of 2012 cohorts

Tech this year had a pretty good year. I think our year though (2012) is probably even better (at the top anyway). Our maths cohort is pretty crazy...

    Negotiator

Negotiating the cost of a t.v $300 generally isn't that hard given the current climate (did it myself about 7 months ago). Having said that, if you have to pay someone, maybe 25% of the discount they get, so the better they do, the better for them.

    Strength of 2012 cohorts

Possibly as aligning refers to changing marks based on predetermined standards (e.g. it is possible for everyone to get 90 as a HSC mark in 2U maths) but scaling changes marks based on the relative strength of the cohort doing that subject (to determine a rank for everyone). Having said that...

Quick question on ATAR estimates using new HSC marks??

You can't predict ATAR's by HSC results as a 90 is physics is way better than a 90 in dance but ATAR calculators take into account scaling of various subjects. They aren't perfectly accurate but are generally pretty close (to within 0.5 ATAR points)

CHALLENGE: Find someone who does the exact same subjects as me!

Quite a few people at my school (Syd Tech) do that but the IPT was accelerated, so I'm not sure if that counts.

    Post your assessment marks!

Our school is quite competitive (Sydney Tech), but the main reason is that the test was stupidly easy so a few dumb mistakes kills you. Hopefully I can make it back though...
