    How did everyone go? (Discussion)

ouch that's all I can say, really.... Definately not what I was expecting, after many, many practice papers. Very different.

    How did everyone go? (Poll)

Yeah - I did heaps of practice papers, went alright, but this had a different feel to it...some parts were okay, and some were shockers, i guess. Hoping, HOPING for an 80. PLEASE *crosses fingers*

    quick question

Okay - sorry to have to ask you to spell it out - I just want to be clear on this - I'm first in my school at english, with a mark of 97. I keep this mark if I come first in the HSC exam? What if I come second? I'm still a little confused, lol. Good thread though - this issue always had me a...

For those Ex 1 students who cant burn english texts till monday 31st

Hehe yeah - but Extension is better than advanced in my opinion, lol. Module A: Crime fiction Genre - we're allllmost there...one more essay and one more story. That's it. Hey - with the relatively simple text types for advanced papers - what are the odds they give us a really horrible one...

    What's With Your Writing?

    1) About 12 words per line 2) mediumish - bigger than my normal writing, anyway 3) messy compared to normal writing - but apparently very neat, accoridng to friends? meh.. 4) Blue pen :D 5) Umm - fine pilot pen - it's not gel, just ballpoint - I just got used to them 6) Haha - why am I...

OLMC Parramatta got an extra 20 mins!!!!!

Haha counterfeit - I like your argument. It happened, and sure, we all feel a little hard done by, we could've done a lot better with an extra 20 minutes. But the truth isn't entirely known, and we could be very much mistaken about the whole thing. Plus, we still have to sit other exams...

Module B: Critical Study of Texts (Merged)

Yeah I wrote an essay too - with a very strong voice, but no terms like 'clasmate' or whatever - I simplified my response into an argumentative tyoe essay :D Ahh well - what's done is done.

What is the best trilogy of books or series?

Probably a tie between Lord Of The Rings, and Cecilia Dart-Thornton's Bitterbynde Trilogy. Best Ever.

Anybody worried about english paper 2?

ummm - not worried as such - know my stuff, and can write all I need to in 40 minute slots - buuuuut - the problem is remembering it all in time for tomoro. It can all fly outta my head after 11.30...

    "F*** the HSC"

does thinking along those lines count?
  11. rusty_rouge

I reckon one module will be a conversation...

Lol - I got that hunch too - I think Module C will be a newspaper article or a feature article - Just to keep us on our toes after the relatively painless AOS paper.....lol.

who else hasnt studied much today??

I feel as though I've gotten to the point where I'm satiated with knowledge, any more study for this paper feels pointless. If you know your texts, have done practices to realise what you can fit in 40 minute time slots, then there's really nothing to do but sit here and wait...and wait...

    Colerigde - How many poems?

    I'm using one - Kubla Khan - teacher says it's fine :)
  14. rusty_rouge

    Kubla Khan

Ummm - there are a few - like the difficult process of creativity, the imperfections on man, the beauty and power of nature and God (Coleridge's pantheistic beliefs), the limitations of mankind in their ability to create etc etc. Hope it helps :)

Section II and Section III - how many words should you be writing?

Ummm, after typing up my trial responses (mad, I know), I had about 1000 for section two, and 1400 for section three. But then again, it all depens on what you write. If you can write concisely, claps for you, 'coz I cant, lol :)

    How many coleridge poems?

Oh I agree, lol. Our teacher said it's better to do one in detail, rather than give two or three and not pay them as much attention - remember, these poems are very deep, very long, and very complex - they need to be given adequate time to be analysed - along with your related texts and a...

    essay question?

Yeah, I think it just depends upon your style of writing, but we always have to talk about techniques. I'm pedantic about them, and I get in the A range, so I'd say stick with whatever you've been doing for assessments

    Colerigde - How many poems?

Hey danielle, it's katie here. Im only doing kubla khan, but i might read up on my 'frost at midnight' notes just in case they specify two poems. Good luck. I think I might email miss...

    essay question?

"It is the journey, not the arrival that matters." You have put together a collection of texts which explore concepts of journey. Write your speech for the release of the collection, discussing how composers present concepts of journey. "Journeys take us into worlds of inspiration...

hey rajiv You've said stuff about overcoming challenges, do you talk about the learning and gaining of understanding reached as a result of undertaking a physical journey? - because self-discovery is often linked with physical journeys. If you do talk about it, you should put it in your...
