Personally, I didn't like it for my style of learning. I also got told that their answers at the back are band 3/4 answers. However, that being said, I have friends who use them and like them and are doing quite well.

I go to school with a friend who is on 13 units (and doing very well), she does sports, extra curricular activities etc. She also does a lot of the subjects that are on your list. Therefore, it is possible to handle 13 units, but it just depends on the student.

I disagree, I consider Chemistry (calculations and memorisation) easier than Physics (lots of understanding and some calculations), and biology is in a group of its own (when I did it for prelim, found it to have soooo much theory and barely and and calculations, but then again I didn't like it...
