    open day

I agree. Although Armidale is alot quieter during the uni and school breaks, it certainly doesn't shut down. Armidale is a pretty easy city to get around - it was designed by a crown surveyor (or someone like that) who utilised typical "block" style principles (ie: straight streets...

    UNE On-campus Accommodation

Re: Whats accommadation like? I suppose I was pretty lucky. Not only did I know quite a few people across the various colleges, but there were another 3 people from my year starting out at the same college. However, I soon got to know a whole new bunch of people. Other than the usual...

    UNE On-campus Accommodation

Re: Whats accommadation like? Although it can vary, at Earle Page you are looking at approx 25 people on each floor. There are 5 showers (named Monday through to Friday) and 5 toilets on each floor. With the toilets, the girls will generally have the first 2, the boys the last 2 and the...

    UNE On-campus Accommodation

Re: Whats accommadation like? It's great to hear what the other colleges are up to :) and how much UNE is growing (Page alone holds about 290 students). From what I gathered in my time at UNE, most rooms across the colleges are structured the same (just the 'fillings' that are different). At...

    UNE On-campus Accommodation

Re: Whats accommadation like? Oki doki, let's answer some questions! :) Answers to k8ie's questions: The standard rooms at Earle Page are rectangle in shape. There's a desk running alongside one of the walls and a bed on the other. For an indication of how wide across the room is, you...

    UNE On-campus Accommodation

Re: Whats accommadation like? Hi! Glad to help. There's generally 2 formal dinners a term (ie: 8 a year). You'll have to wear your college academic gown to most of them (a lovely green colour that's standard across all UNE colleges). The only really formal dinner is ball which takes place...

    UNE On-campus Accommodation

Re: Whats accommadation like? Well, I thoroughly recommend Earle Page College. I went there and had a great time. Earle Page tends to focus on the academic/cultural side of things (that's not to say that there isn't an opportunity to participate in sporting teams). Atmosphere is v.good and...

    Applying to Colleges at U.N.E

I'm not sure if the applications for colleges at UNE have "officially" opened yet, but you generally apply by completing the online application form on the UNE website (go to "accommodation" link). Applications for first round offers is 30/11/06. Applications received after that date are...

    Arts????

I did a BA/LLB at UNE. In my Arts degree, I completed a double major in Political Science and History. Really enjoyed both. The link for the Arts faculty is http://www.une.edu.au/arts/index.htm (you can get all the info regarding majors/minors from there - it's changed abit since I was...

    Random Q's

Ok, let's answer your questions in turn .... 1) In regards to residential scholarships, each college tends to have their own on offer. For example, I went to Earle Page and they have a number of scholarships available for first years...

    laptop V pad

Yikes! Wouldn't have minded those on WebCT when I was at uni : ) When I was there, only external students would get taped lectures. The powerpoint displays are also very useful summaries of the lectures. They'll come in very handy during exam time.

    Uni Workload

I agree with thorrnydevil. 1st yr is pretty straightforward - as long as you keep up to date with readings etc. This will make sure you are not stressed out during exam time which quite a few 1st years often are (at least from what I observed while at uni).

    Sras

Yep. You should be able to get into Arts/Law with SRAS. It's not that difficult to get in with SRAS - as long as your Yr 11 & 12 results weren't too bad. I knew someone who transferred to Arts/Law at ANU after doing 2 years of Arts/Law at UNE. I'm not sure if they were under the SRAS, but...

    laptop V pad

I agree with thornydevil. When I did Arts/Law, I think I only saw a person using a laptop once (and they didn't stick with it long). Particularly in law subjects, lectures can go really quickly and there's just not enough time to type everything up. Pen & paper worked well for me. Another...

Yeah, you still should be able to apply for a scholarship.

    Advice

No probs. I think quite a few unis have something similar to the Principal Rec Scheme. Generally they are the regional unis. Try and do a search around the uni websites. The UNE Principal Rec Scheme is pretty easy to apply for. Under it, regardless of your UAI, you can be selected if your...

    Info

Well, I certainly enjoyed my 5 years spent at UNE doing Arts/Law. The teaching was really good and lectures/tutes were excellent. The atmosphere of the uni was alot different in comparison to city unis due to the size of the uni, but there was always something to do (and I liked the smallness...

    Advice

Two suggestions ... 1) You may want to consider UNE's Principal Rec Scheme. Under this, your school can recommend you for a place at UNE and as long as UNE accepts you for a particular course, it doesn't matter what your UAI is. 2) The UAI's for B Economics, B Financial Administration, B...

    UNE Law

Well, I got a job as a lawyer for a government department (which allowed me to utilise my politics degree as well). I was given 3 job offers in my final year. In fact, everyone I know from my course got a job in either the public or private sector.

    UNE Questions

No problem Asuka. I don't really know much about Canberra Uni. I've heard it's ok but I suppose it depends on what you want to study.
