    any1 MAJORING in mathematics?

What's ironic (and true) is that they look bored/sleepy because they've been trying to learn all the maths on their own the night before.

Which is the best uni for business/commerce/economics?

Re: Best Business Faculty Also, macquarie degrees are confusing. There are lot of subjects with the Accounting course code that are actually finance subjects.

Which is the best uni for business/commerce/economics?

Re: Best Business Faculty I don't think it really makes much a difference whether the cutoff falls slightly relative to USyd. That's the lower tail of the cohort with mediocre students. Also, internationals aren't competing for the top jobs so who cares. As long as the same number of good...

Which is the best uni for business/commerce/economics?

Re: Best Business Faculty On a related topic: I would say UTS is the leader in (applied) quantitative finance research and teaching in Australia. The postgrad Masters in Quantitative Finance (MQF) comprehensively covers theoretical and applied aspects of financial mathematics (also on...

B Commerce (Actuarial Studies) @ UNSW

See the UK Institute of Actuaries website for syllabus, textbooks, past exams. If you are not confident of safely making it into BCom (UAI 97+), it is highly unlikely you will be able to overcome the following barriers: - a hard course, with a significant proportion dropping out in 1st and...

    Options/Stock Trading

Neither degree is good for trading. They are for financial modelling jobs. You are expected to pick up programming on the job. Most people have programmed in C or VBA before. A Finance/Econometrics degree with Finance Honours would probably be the best way to enter trading. Traders use...

    Options/Stock Trading

Any quantitative degree helps you to understand the models. It doesn't have to be Maths. Actuarial Studies is better in most cases. Also, I think it's too late to transfer as you will have to remember all your old high school maths, and then catch up on the first 2 years which are core.

    Options/Stock Trading

Commentary on quants: See the latest edition of "Bloomberg Markets" for a feature article on graduates entering finance. Apparently there is a high demand for good maths/finance grads with programming skills ^.^. In Sydney, I would say there is also quite a bit of demand for these kind of...

    science advanced

Matlab is okay for numerical computing, but it gets very slow for large scale applications (Fortran is much better). Maple is pretty useful for long tedious algebra. Actually, analysis and probability theory (which are pure math subjects) are essential to tackle stochastic calculus and...

    Fixed Income Houses in Sydney

Cmon. Someone must know. I am actually pretty interested in credit and equity derivatives, and their intersection. Which banks are strong at equity derivatives?

Why is my salary so low

At Credit Suisse an Ops role was 40k (including super) in 05/06. So I think she's in Ops. Also, Ops bonus is shit as I think the most you can get is maybe 2k. Aside, a quant role pays 70k+ which is a rip considering you need a PhD.
