    Black Body Radiation Arghhhhhhhh

No that wouldn't be possible without quanta. Light is transmitted in several frequencies because of the different energy "allocated" to each photon. If the quantum theory wasn't around, then we would be thinking of light as one steady stream of energy, where an energy change somewhere along its...

    Black Body Radiation Arghhhhhhhh

Think of the graphs as a kind of "census" for energy from some body. The graph tells you that there is varying frequencies of energy being emitted from the body. This is possible because we know that energy occurs in "packets" or quanta and the energy is being emitted in this manner because at...

lol... 2 unit... 2 unit becomes like piss easy stuff when you get through half the stuff in the 4 unit course.

    Excellent foundation in 3U needed?

lol dw about mate, i don't think you're expected to know them ALL perfectly. As long as you have knowledge in those areas with most of the formulae in ur head (which you should if you do questions) Besides, most of the stuff you're supposed to learn is gonna be taught to you through the 4 unit...

    Complex roots of unity

1, w, w2 are the three cube roots of unity. STate the values of w3 and 1+w+w2. Hence simplify each of the expressions (1+3w+w2)2 and (1+w+3w2)2 and show that their sum is -4 and their product is 16. okay now if its a cube root of unity then its w3 = 1 and all the roots are 1, cis (2pi/3) and...

    Excellent foundation in 3U needed?

1 chapter is dedicated to further curve sketching in the syllabus. Circles, Trig, Geometry, Induction and Probability are all part of the Harder 3U topics. Also, induction is used throughout the course, as well as geometry (in mechanics) and trig (complex numbers and polynomials).

    A seemingly easy question...help me

    1) 1+z = 1+0i+z = cis(0) + cos(@) + isin(@) = 2cos2(@/2) + isin(@) im not sure how to change it from here into cis form. Once you get it into cis form, use it in ur next question

    A Little Question About BNW..

no i think its true... i read somewhere that H.G Wells deemed the novel as a "treason against science" and all scientific progress. Huxley created the novel as a "satirical revolt" against all the other sci-fi stuff that was out during the 1920s because all that was written was that science and...

    graphing

sry i messed up the explanation  i'll post up some examples for you. EDIT: attachment added for |y|=f(x) you have to draw f(x)=-y and f(x)=y. This will only work if they intersect the axis at the same point.

    graphing

All it means is that when you put in a negative or positive value into your function, you will only be returned with a positive value. y=|x| means that you can put negative or positive x values but the graph will always be above the x axis because only positive y values are given x=|y| means...
