    Finance or Econometrics Major

Yeah, the quants do the maths/programming. The structurers do a bit of everything. I think the GS's CRM team is more structuring than pure quant stuff. Also, the level of math ability depends on what you are trading. In equities you don't need much but for exotics, fixed income, credit, etc...

    Finance or Econometrics Major

They recruit smart ppl. A lot happen to do Comm/Law. But all in all, it makes little difference what degree you are doing once you are going through the interviews.

    Finance or Econometrics Major

My point is that the relevant finance bits and pieces relevant for Corp Fin interviews can be picked up from a couple of Corporate Finance subjects (FINS1613 and FINS3625). Also, the maths you learn in Econometrics and Finance probably won't be of much use in M&A. Hence, it would be better to...

    Finance or Econometrics Major

Econometrics is watered-down stats so it's as bad as finance. Do actuarial studies/maths/engineering/physics etc if you want to be on the quant side. However, since you're not aiming for quanty positions, it would be better to do a non-quanty major like Accounting and pick up another...

    Finance and Maths

The Adv Maths (QRM) degree will replace the Adv Sci (Maths & Finance) degree. Please note that this is a more professional oriented degree which has been developed in consultation with risk managers in the Finance industry.

    Finance and Maths

The Finance minor will not be recognised on your testamur (like most Minors). You cannot have combined QRM degree as it is a specialisation in the Advanced Mathematics degree which is stand-alone. There are plans to offer combined Commerce/Adv. Maths but that will be for a while yet.

    APA and fees

Yes, but bear in mind UNSW only offers 100 every year, so I guess it would be pretty competitive across all unis. You can obtain APA-equivalent scholarships which are financed by research grants, departments, etc. It would be best to contact the department at each university about scholarships.

    APA and fees

I think you get a HECS scholarship for postgrad research degrees if you are a local student. I think you need to be accepted into the PhD program before you apply for an APA.
