I did Ext 1 to escape from Advanced. I did Ext 2 to escape from Ext 1. In the end, Ext 2 was the only one for which I had any respect. =P

Yupyup ;-) And look, another LLB I can laugh at when they do exams on Saturday mornings!

    High Court re-awards injured swimmer $3m 9/2/05

In this case, I agree with the dissenting opinion of Justice McHugh (and the opinion of Heydon, as far as it agrees with McHugh). It was agreed by all parties that it would not have been reasonable to close the beach on that day. The plaintiff failed to offer any evidence that placing the...

    Moving in lalalalalala

Well, at Fenner, you can change rooms, but it costs you money. A decent amount of money, last time I checked. Probably not worth it. Incidentally, I'll be coming back on Sunday (13th) -- I moved back in a couple of weeks ago, but I came back to Wollongong for a few days. Look forward to...

    Zuh?

Well, let's remember that we're talking about HSC English, and then we can all live happily on the same side.

    The List of Stuff

In addition to the extension cords mentioned by Ziff, I suggest powerboards -- colleges are notoriously stingy when it comes to the number of powerpoints in your room. =) Oh, and for those living at Fenner, no need to bring a kettle, as a) you're not supposed to use them in your room, and b)...

    Roll Call

Oo, psych...they've got a pretty good department. You should have lots of fun with those research projects =D Any area in particular that you're looking at? I've talked with a couple of the people in the Visual Sciences research area before; FYI, they've done some interesting experiments...

let's make a contact list for all new anu students!!

I, um, should probably point out that this thread was dead for a year prior to chelloveck's post up there... Mind you, I only realised this after reading my own post from last year on the first page. =P

    Information on Accommodation

Oh, depending on government support, of course! It's Canberra, the home of bureaucratic government offices! *huggles Centrelink* But in all seriousness, there's quite a bit of retail work around, so I understand it's *reasonably* easy to find a job...

    Fenner Hall Question

Yup, a good mix from everywhere, both nationally and internationally. Last year, I had something along the lines of four SE Asians, two Americans, and two Indians on my floor. Of those from Australia, I think roughly half were from NSW/ACT, and something like three other states were represented.

    B&G vs Fenner

Well, let me put in a vote for Fenner (stayed there for my first year in 2004, am returning this year). Agreed, it's not much to look at from the outside, but... Fenner is off-campus. This can be a good thing, it can be a bad thing. I like it because it keeps my "home" and my "work" life...

That's the theory, anyway. Some, er, over-enthusiastic lecturers may need to be gently reminded. Or not-so-gently reminded...our class started walking out on one particular lecturer after our classes got progressively later and later until they finished at about 3 past the hour.

Yay! =) I'm a PhB (maths/physics) as well...this will be my second year. Living at Fenner.

    Does God Exist?

*begin physics geek section* Well, if there are truly no observers of the falling tree, then the tree exists in a superposition of states -- namely, fallen and not fallen. The ratio of the amplitudes of the wavefunctions making up this superposition will be determined by the assumed initial...

    Does God Exist?

Unfortunately, crackpots get the attention of the media far too easily. With the sensationalism of the modern world, it's worth far more to a newspaper to write about why the world is ending in two years than it is to run a story on the latest news in particle physics. Unless, of course, said...

21/02 is the beginning of the first term...O-Week therefore starts on 14/02. Suggestion for those moving into college: everybody likes to move in during the weekend before O-Week...if you can come down a day or two earlier, it helps.

    Dan Brown

Just remembered today that there *was* minor problem I found in A&D. *minor spoiler attached* At the end of the book, the reporter talks to an expert on camera about the so-called "Election by Adoration". This refers to the procedure known as an election "per acclamationem seu...

ANU Explore Arts Day (21st May)

Well, I like it here...ppl seem to be reasonably friendly. I guess the facilities and so on average out to be quite good; for example, the rooms aren't as big as they are in some of the other colleges, but are still a decent size (as long as you don't do stupid things like trying to fit a...

ANU Explore Arts Day (21st May)

You don't need a bike. It might make things easier, but you don't *need* a bike. *nods sagely as he looks back over his first semester at ANU* FYI, I live at Fenner, so I'm about 20 mins walk away from uni. It might help more if you're chronically late though :p Oh, and public transport...
