benefits of getting a higher ATAR than required for your couse?

Bragging rights for about 2 secs. The 2 secs meaning results day and/or the day the school organises for Year 12s to spill the beans on their results (if that day doesn't take place on results day itself). No one cares after that. Hell, even a lot of employers don't care about your uni...

When would you stop applying for med?

A good time to stop applying for med is when you realise that there's not enough intern training places. Which is about....now.

    Skipping Lectures

Depends. I never studied outside of attending the lecture and stuvac, so it was important for me to. It's easier for me to motivate myself to go and "feel that I'm at uni", so to speak, than it is for me to sit in front of a computer and rewind a lecture 10,000x over. Though I do agree attending...

    Help what should i do!

What witide said. If you do decide to drop Jap, there are plenty of other opportunities to study it elsewhere--TAFE, adult community colleges, or even your new degree, if you're successful.

    UNSW Bus

@sinophile: no idea but I wouldn't be surprised. I was wondering actually, if the uni paid Sydney Buses to run the 891/895? I thought it'd be a real push and shove affair to get onto the buses (even worse than USYD actually). I must've looked like such an idiot running for the bus the first few...

Can I still change to a different tutorial?

Ah shit I read the course session dates wrong. I thought you could add up till 11th March, but that's for T1A, which starts 7th March. For the normal semester, which is T1 commencing 28th Feb, the last date was 6th Feb. Damn. I really wanted to do another course which clashes with a course I'm...

How much do you have in bank?

Home made lunches are your best friend.

    How much do you study?

Pfft you don't need to study that much unless you don't go to lectures or go to lectures but don't absorb anything. I found attending all my lectures + stuvac was enough. I'm seriously not that smart, still ended up with a solid credit average.

    First day at uni

Yeah I know Macquarie's right around the corner for me. Being a bit of a walking enthusiast I've walked there and back again--1.5hr walk each way (which, if you think about it, is like a 10min drive). The travelling's not that bad--same as USYD actually. It's not that short of a walk from...

    Lectures wtf

*sigh* that's the problem with sarcasm, doesn't translate well across the Internet. Of course I got it  meh it's just a pic. Most important thing is you had fun at the meetup (looks like you did *wink wink*)

what are easy, guilt free ways to become friends with girls at Uni?

Which bit? But I'm serious about getting involved. Otherwise you won't meet people. And that's what makes uni >>>> high school. You could study anything anywhere (hell, even reading Wiki would probably be good enough!) but where are you gonna meet interesting people? Fulltime work? Good luck...

    Lectures wtf

Pimping as in exploiting....for that photo. Right? There was some thread on some BOS meat and it was some Asian guy in the middle between 2 girls. Wasn't paying attention and didn't follow the rest of the thread past the first post but now that I think about it....it was you wasn't it?

what are easy, guilt free ways to become friends with girls at Uni?

cbf reading the whole thread, but if someone has said this, I'll reiterate for them--if you do Engo, you're stuffed. Nah seriously, just get out there, get involved in the C&S, volunteering, sports stuff, whatever. Seriously, what is with this forum? Did you all go to single sex schools or...

    First day at uni

First day of uni was today. Though first official day of classes was Monday, and the first day I'll actually go to classes will be next Thursday (personal circumstances). Did C&S stuff and my gosh I love uni! Or more preciously, I love UNSW! (though that just might be because I'll definitely...

    First day at uni

That must be an urban legend that every first year hears, because I heard that too. More like 10x HSC.

    Lectures wtf

Yeah. I go to lectures only because they're the only time I review the material outside of stuvac. Also because it gives me an excuse to get more involved on campus. I'll be like, well, I'm not coming in just for an hour or two, why not get involved? Similarly, I''d be like, I'm not coming to...
