News.com.au "Teachers failing the maths grade"

this teacher told a small number of us about this in confidence so I cant exactly name and shame them. but they teach the standard math classes in the junior years, so if you did MX2, it is unlikely that this teacher ever taught you now that I think about it I can recall a 3 other teachers who...

each uni has ways of propping up your ATAR, like at UNSW if you get a band 6 in english advanced, they will add 2 ATAR points to your ATAR if you choose a course at UNSW check the uni you are applying for, its different for each one

Students with 14 units, advice and motivation

ill add to this, I think you are also making other assumptions, such as all courses be equally difficult I know there are certain courses I can just do well in with minimal study, while there are other courses that I need to do a lot of study for to get the same results. If I were to take 10...

Students with 14 units, advice and motivation

@Arceupins you are making the assumption that people only want to get the highest ATAR I took 15 units cause I wanted to learn the content, just for the love of knowledge. factor that into your equations

    Cheating punishments?

just find this supervisor. you haven't done anything wrong, and if you have it is the supervisors fault for giving you the all clear. if you werent allowed to write notes down on ripped paper, that supervisor should have told you so before the exam. so just find that woman. (you could also...

News.com.au "Teachers failing the maths grade"

I too had a great maths teacher, but the rest of the maths teachers at my school were quite poor. and as mentioned in the article, one of the maths teachers at my school was just put in charge of a math class, despite not being a math teacher.

How many marks have you dropped?

lol, guys. a word of advice, if you kill a frog, no matter how much you dissect it, or in what fancy way you take it apart, the frog isnt coming back to life. move on and worry about other frogs yet to come

Is Mathematics Extension 1 Essential for an Engineering Degree?

I think you are being a little too critical tommy, math1131 wasnt that hard. having done 4u helped, but I certainly wouldnt say that having a 3u background would mean you would struggle. no, MX1 is not essential for an engineering degree. however, if you want to do an engineering degree, be...

Vanilla Bsc (geology)- how much maths?

"No geology program I have seen explicitly requires any maths, physics, chem or bio. However, my intuition is that in the case that you wanted to actually work as a geologist wouldn't these be essential?" if you finished a geology program and were unqualified to work as a geologist, the...

Best degrees for atheists who want to debate creationists?

LOL! if only I could know your though processes in the lead up to your decision to create this thread anyway, if you became a priest, you would be around other priests and religious folk more than usual and hence have plenty of opportunities to debate creationists

what happens if you make this mistake?

you know it is very hard to accept your argument when you provide no evidence. its like saying "you are wrong. the moon isnt made of cheese, its make of chocolate". if you crossed out a correct solution and rewrote an incorrect one, then you would still get marks for the correct solution. if it...

    B Engineering/Commerce UNSW

UNSW Handbook Program - Engineering/Commerce - 3715 if you havent been there, that will give you some information. if you have a look at the "program structure" section if tells you pretty much what you want to know. keep in mind that a single subject is 6 units of credit (or 6 UoC), so...

    pathway

you should look at uni courses early to make sure you meet any prereq's, eg, if you want to do engineering, you should take 2u maths or higher. so yes, you should look ahead to what uni courses you are interested in, especially if ATAR needed is high, so you know that you need to study hardbut...

    Biomedical Engineering or Computer Science

if you dont know how to program by the end of your computer science degree, then you dont deserve to get hired ultimately, do what you enjoy, whether that be comp sci or biomed.also note that while I assume you respect your dad and his opinions, there is a thing called proper authority...

    pathway

I dunno what ur dad does in the IT industry, but you wont need any chem or physics knowledge to do IT/computer science in uni. if you wanted to study quantum computing or bioinformatics, then you would probably need some knowledge of physics or biology, but IT/comp sci doesnt go near the "pure"...

If you don't make the ATAR cut off, can you still do the course?

yes you can still make the cut off. a great deal of people get in despite being below the cut off for various reasons. so if you get above the cut-off, you are guaranteed a place if you are below the cut-off, you can still get a place, but your chances are no longer 100% and the higher...

    Spartiate homoioi help?

homoioi is meant to mean equals, but there are clearly divisions. i remember that certain syssitia were more prestigious than others, and certain syssitia would only accept certain types of members. so there was some division among the equals, with some equals preferred over others. so...
