They are not allowed to do that? They are not allowed to have 15 year olds on for public holidays because they are cheaper and such. Call the union. And we were specifically told that "they can NOT cancel your hours and give them to somebody else"

On that note. I wonder how it works. Our trainer said yesterday that we'll be serving in our training shifts. So do they not explain anything about registers before they start? Or do they close the register off and explain stuff and then open it to give us a go? Hmmm

So I take it you didn't get the email? There was a two-paged form you dated & signed at the induction. That was the exact same email you get, but I take it they must have called you instead of emailed. That basically had all your induction times on it, should have asked for a photocopy :P. BTW...

I'd say so. Perhaps older people (mums, people returning to work, etc). Hey, when are you doing your checkout training (department specific induction)? Cause I know you had the company induction the other day. Cheers

Just to confirm, Woolies is getting a new agreement soon, hence why there wasn't a recent pay rise. Not sure if you guys knew and stuff, I'm new to this thread. I was speaking to a union rep today. Thanks

any one know Minimum wages for..?

Well the $10.05 wage I calculated could be training or something. That's "grade 1" wage, I don't know what grade 1 is. At Woolworths, grade 5 is training, and grade 4 is off training, so it could be something like that, which it probably is. You'll be getting $10.25 after six months, if the...

any one know Minimum wages for..?

Correct. You should be getting somewhere around $10.54 per hour if you are in Victoria. Victoria gets a higher casualty penalty rate (28.5% compared to 22.5% - according to 18.3 Junior casual team members shall receive the above rates plus the loading prescribed in sub-clause 4.2. Somebody...

    The McDonald's Thread

I was at the Woolworths Induction today, the SDA Union video was playing. It had McDondalds logo as one of it's companyes which it is unioning. McDonalds doesn't have an award on the SDA website, nor have I heard anything about the union & McDonalds. No union sign up when you start at Maccas...

Brooke. If they don't pay you the SDA agreed wage, contact the union and they will get it for you. Don't let them think about ripping you off. :)

I would just say "thanks but no thanks". Just explain that you'd like to stay where you are a bit longer, they won't care. A promotion is a promotion, so if you don't want it, they are not going to think "wtf dickhead". May I ask what position it is?
