In the first year, yes, but only in the first year. And if you only pay 8 dollars a year for biros (good luck), and then (effectively) 8 dollars a year for an ink well - wow, it comes out the same! And on the fountain pen's side, you have better/speedier writing and less chance of developing...

A GOOD fountain pen ranges that. That would then be, for example, $76-$116 in the first year.. and then only ~$16 per two years, if that, given that an ink well lasts longer than a year.

Ink wells cost about $16 for good quality ink, and they last on average 1.5-2 years (that's with everyday use). You still come out cheaper, in the long run.

$70 isn't much for a pen that will last decades, as opposed to a $2 pen that only lasts a few weeks (days?) under heavy use.

Uh, not really. Why would it? I could only foresee "weirdness" if you're on the triphasic pills, but even then it wouldn't be much.

Why? I assume you have repeats on your prescription. Just buy a new one and then start it where you left off the other one.

Well-maintained, high quality fountain pens that are used often (i.e. so the ink does not dry up) very rarely have problems with ink flow.

Officeworks. FYI, in comparison to a real fountain pen, the "$7" ones are abundantly crap, and you can't refill them. My pen, a Lamy ($70), is at the low end of quality fountain pens; I've been writing with it continuously for about 7 years now, going through four ink wells (each about $16)...
