    Post-preference worries

If they're both for HECS places, you'll only get one offer - and that's for the higher preference.

    rechecking

Last year applicants were notified around 14 January.

    SAM 2005 - when?

I wouldn't want to spoil any surprises. ;) But if all goes well, it should be consistently more accurate. It should also incorporate various other modellers we've been testing. The real plan involves the provision of an entirely new service that takes a completely different approach to...

    2004 raw marks

Deadlines are necessary to minimise administrative difficulties. Any agency should accomodate a request made past a deadline if sufficient reason is shown (e.g. anomalous raw marks that were available only after the deadline had passed).

    2004 raw marks

They would conduct the recheck anyway if you wrote to them.

    remarking/rechecking-when?

It could affect other students, yes - but to avoid reissuing everyone with a new UAI, they allow them to keep the old one. In most cases, I doubt there would be any noticeable change to other UAIs.

    Science (Psychology)/Law

As far as I'm aware... Minors don't have strictly defined packages of courses in the way that majors do - if you've taken a few related courses, you can say that you have a minor in that area (e.g. Philosophy). But the actual words "Minor in Philosophy" (or similar) aren't ever printed on...

    SAM 2005 - when?

SAM 2005 probably won't be available until March. It might be able to do a little bit more though. :)

    SAM the sinister!

It doesn't - and can't - predict anything. You were way off when you assumed your 2003 UAI would be the same as your 2004 UAI. We certainly never said it would be the same.

    Dumb School vs Smart School...

No. If you want to know why, read and understand this thread.

    Another question about B. Laws

You would be given a number of electives in the straight B Laws degree, some of which would be filled up by Communications courses in the combined degree. So very few electives for combined kids. :)

    Science (Psychology)/Law

Yes. Just a small package of related courses - but not enough courses to give rise to a major. Minors aren't usually as strictly defined as majors. Yes. However, keep in mind that most of what you're reading is generic text that was written for pure science students. Once you're in the...

    A call for more smilies!

I'll add them if you put them all in a post and suggest text replacement codes for them. e.g. -

Turns out there was a typo in the code used to round the mean to the nearest 0.05. Fixed. :) Thanks.

    Is SAM accurate??

You can't just enter your school marks - SAM only accepts aligned HSC marks (the ones reported by the Board). We've been warning students about that all year. Obviously, not well enough.

    Rechecking of marks??

    Yes, this is true.
