    Should I pursue law?

Because of career progression and monetary incentives to go elsewhere (The company I work for now, the GM was in PwC for a while then jumped to more chilled lifestyle + better pay). Not everyone will become a partner in 15-20 years. People change, sometimes to their clients, and become a long...

    UNSW vs USYD Commerce

No I haven't. Depends what you go there for. Going there for a holiday is different to going there for an internship/exchange.

    Monash Uni Commerce?

You really shouldn't move for a commerce degree when you have universities on par (nationally) like Macquarie and UTS. You will not be disadvantaged at either universities unless you're going for MBB (quite pretentious, they generally just go to go8 universities to recruit). If you really...

    Internal transfer in to Law?

If you get your university marks high enough, they won't consider your ATAR. Anything above 82 WAM and you will have a good chance of making it into usyd Law. It sounds like you are genuinely interested in arts/media - so I think with consistent effort, you can definitely achieve that! It...

    First job at 18 y.o?

If you're looking for the first job, don't worry too much about relevance. Just try and get employed e.g. at Maccas - you have demonstrated you can work in a team environment (rather than 50% of the applicant saying 'I'm a team player'). For recent HSC grads, office junior/admin jobs would be...

    Cadetships 2013 thread

Why not go for an internship rather than a cadetship? That way you can see if accounting is really for you (and study full time keeping your options open?). If you major in accounting, you should be fine. They don't really give that much preference to what degree you have. Some people have...

Will bad handwriting be a problem in university?

I was in your spot - hand writing stuffed me up quite a bit. Tried to improve, didn't help - still shit. And yes, it has become quite a limitation in university. let me know if you find a way that works for you! I tried cursive, but I think that would just take way too long to learn fully.

Best HSC marks fail to guarantee place in medicine courses

There may be someone with a mystery ATAR and have the 'personal attributes' of a doctor. 99.95 ATAR damn well indicates (not every .95 person) that you want medicine and are willing to work for it (and you're capable). Please don't discount people's achievements. Obviously this does not mean...

    Questions about transferring USYD Law

Definitely not easy. But given that OP got a pretty high ATAR, I'm assuming he/she will put in solid effort - in that case, D average shouldn't be too much of a problem :). Also, try get a good group of people you work well with - most helpful/rewarding thing of 1st year uni for me. all the best!

    Questions about transferring USYD Law

Extremely difficult would get getting a GPA of 7/7 (I think just 1 person in the cohort has this - mainly because some units are very mathematical while others are focused on long responses (core units) - so requires some solid balance to own both components). HD wam average for B.comm depends...

    Questions about transferring USYD Law

Hi mate, I would suggest you do the other degree (e.g. Comm, arts) that you plan to combine with law at USYD and then transfer in the 2nd year. Given that you got 99.45, you'd probably need around 80 WAM (maybe a bit less) - which I'm sure you can pull if you put in some solid effort. I...

    University Choice MAQ vs SYD

Hi mate, You can do B.comm and major in economics, so in a sense, B.Comm is a broader degree. If you're looking for finance/accounting (the typical - or the most popular majors) then B.Comm would be the best. MQ and UNSW/USYD are seen in a similar light by many accounting firms from what I...

Bachelor of commerce at UNSW or USYD?

personal experience: Business faculty teachers are NOT laid back. My accounting lecturers were some of the best 'teachers' I've come across my whole life. my last one went above and beyond to make sure every student had all the resources they needed to attain their best possible marks. Instead...

Which uni/course would be more beneficial?

Hey man, If you considering reputation, I don't think 'advanced business leadership' will have any affect on it . The best thing you could do is transfer to a better, more reputable university - such as Macquarie. What does the 'advanced business leadership' program entail? do you get almost...
