r we becoming more and more stupid??

my english teacher once said something to this effect... he was talking about how the year 9 students don't understand 'stand by me' in relation to change (my year studied this in year 9, and did reasonably well), and how eventually it will become a year 10 text instead of year 9...

    Facciamo una chiacchierata

Prego. I'm not quite sure to be honest... continuers requires a greater understanding of the language, and more depth in your answers. just looking at some of the writing sections of the past papers, there is a significant difference in the types of questions... i.e. Continuers...

    Facciamo una chiacchierata

Ciao Ginny! I think I spotted a couple of tiny mistakes, though I may be wrong... it says 'qualsi' where I think you may mean 'quasi'. And you said 'Not to write or to listen well,' where I think you meant 'Non scrivo ne' ascolto bene', 'I don't write or listen well'. I made a similar mistake in...

    help with validity and reliability

i did this in history as part of an annotated bibliography... if you're unsure about how to go about it, cover a few of the following points: what did you use the source for [simple background research, or comprehensive information on someting etc]? was it useful/effective as a source? was it...

does ANYBODY enjoy their text for english?

i really liked birthday letters for telling the truth, but that's because poetry is one of my favourite parts of english. hated my place, but at least it's an easy text. as for emma, i haven't finished it and probably won't. it's clever, and amusing in its irony, but austen describes every...

Best+Worst of Teacher Quotes and Habits

may have been a 'had to be there thing', but my english teacher made the best call today: 'Tom couldn't impress a 3/4 dead slug'

what have you guys talked about today at school?

a friend and i bitched about changing everything we were told to in our english essays and still losing marks, after being told everything was fine. and the feedback was too cryptic to understand/didn't translate to the amount of marks lost (i got 15/20 for one section and the only comment was...

What can go wrong in ...

hmm, not totally sure of the answer, but without looking at my books i'm thinking: meiosis - mutation in the sex cells perhaps, which could result in some kind of genetic abnormality/inherited disease DNA replication - addition/deletion/substitution of one of the four case pairs, resulting...

    Harry Potter 7: Two Films

exactly, the person who was going to give him exodus from the dursleys has just been killed and all he says is, "you don't understand." it's ridiculous. LOL, you sound like one of my friends. she doesn't watch them at the movies because she'd end up screaming at the screen and being kicked out...

    Should i drop bio?

true. but still, if she drops bio she will have three units with decent scaling out of eleven, the rest are all pretty average. not saying you should choose for scaling, but if you're concerned about it, then it's something you should factor into your choice.

    Reasons for English? Compulsory?

i think you'll find that there are other threads on this pointless topic. you have to do english whether you like it or not, so stop complaining and go get a tutor if it bothers you so much.

What topic are you up to in the following subjects?

Chemistry; don't do this subject personally, but i heard a couple of friends freaking out about how they haven't even finished their second topic. Biology; finished all three core topics, the rest of the term will be revision. the other class in our year will catch up to us in about a month...

    Should i drop bio?

i hear the scaling isn't exactly awesome, but if you look at all her other subjects, it seems to be the highest scaling.

    Struggling with Pompeii?

i found pompeii to be a really boring topic, and we went through it so fast that i feel like i don't know anything. i don't think i'll do very well in this section in the HSC :(

    Should i drop bio?

if i were you, i'd wait until you've done a bit of the year 12 course. i hated year 11 bio, but i assure you the HSC topics are waaay more interesting. it's actually one of my favourite subjects now. BUT you don't really need a safety net since you'll still have 11 units if you drop it (12 if...
