    Cadetship 2015

I guess what I meant to say was: would a cadetship in the private clients area be of any advantage (other than having something to write down in a cv) when going for graduate positions in audit/tax etc, compared to the other cadetships or vac jobs out there?

    Cadetship 2015

Hi, BDO has opened applications for cadetships in 'Private Clients'. I just wanted to know if anyone has had experience in working in a Private Clients team and how a cadetship in this stacks up against cadetships in more traditional or corporate areas.

Single Comm Degree vs Actl+Comm Double Degree

Sorry to revive this thread again, but just a question - if I were to transfer out of actuarial to commerce in 2nd year then up to 7/8 of my 1st year subjects count for commerce, right? So if I were to finish 'on time' with everyone else would that be possible by overloading? Also if I were to...

    Is there a teaching glut?

Based on this would you consider a math/teaching degree worth pursuing compared to say, a commerce degree?

    Is there a teaching glut?

I would very much appreciate if anyone could shed light on this issue? Stupidly enough I didn't apply for teach NSW scholarships/cadetships :( I've heard quite a lot about how there is a teaching glut in NSW where it has become difficult to find work, and those who do find work have little...

Announcement from BOSTES/NESA - 2019 Syllabus Changes for Calculus courses

Re: Announcement from BOSTES - significant change to calculus courses If someone was to take the extension 1 exam does this mean that the 2u reference sheet is also provided or is only the extension sheet provided?

    Inverse fn q

Some functions have their inverses as themself e.g. f(x)=1/x... they would 'intersect' at all real non-zero x on the curve itself.

English Area of Study to be dropped

Should they just change it to make General or 2U Maths compulsory akin to the current Standard/Advanced English courses being compulsory? If they were to make them scale the same just like they do with standard/advanced (although the aligning is obviously different) that might be enough to...

    Maths Extension 2 thoughts

What I mean was, because all of the terms in the equation in part ii had an x^2n term if you expanded it out??? Like for -(2nC2)x^{2n-2}(1-x^2) the x^2n coefficient would be 2nC2 and so on for all the other terms... and then I added them together and it got real messy real quick

How did you do product of roots? It was like constant/leading coefficient but I couldn't find the leading coefficient properly (it was the LHS of part iv which was probably on the wrong track)

    Is this a valid approach?

Hi, in the 2007 HSC question 7 a) i) says "show that sin x < x for x > 0" The method I used I have seen many times before but not in this particular question, I said that for some u>0, cos u <= 1 using a graph and then integrated with borders 0 to x. Pretty simple. The reason I am asking this...

    Finding domain and range

Like I said before, the the endpoints of the domain are not necessarily the maximum/minimum points. For example there may be max/min points or asymptotes within the domain which are not evident just by looking at the domain so really, you should do a sketch to make sure.
