    Completing the square question

    Look at the x^2 - 6x. The perfect square that produces an x^2 and a -6x is (x-3)^2 So (x-3)^2=x^2-6x+9 =====> x^2-6x+4=(x-3)^2-5 so a=3 and b=-5

    Finding domain and range

    There are four main restrictions on the domain. Look for them in this order: (1) Fractions: the denominator cannot equal 0. (2) Surds: the inside of the surd must be greater than or equal to 0. (3) Logs: the inside of the log must be greater than 0. (4) Inverse trig: for 3 unit kids only. If you...

    how hard is it to get a raw mark

    I think as long as you know what each verb requires, as well as looking at the number of marks allocated, you should be able to ascertain how your answer should be structured to gain the marks :) but yeah the criteria can be quite strict.

    Hey guys, I'm in year 12 and I've been looking at my options etc. I've narrowed my top preference to two options (at UNSW): (1) Actuarial studies/Commerce (thinking of a major in finance) - it sounds interesting. However I have read and heard of many different things about actuarial studies...

    Hi, could someone please try the last part? I've basically given too much time to this question so it may just be that I missed something completely. The only thing I have done that might be of use after successfully completing parts i to iv was to prove that ZYOC was also cyclic. It's from the...

    Double Angle Identities

    A general guide: You can rearrange the equations to get: 1+cos2x=2cos^2 x , 1-cos2x=2sin^2 x Most of the manipulations required will contain 1+cos2x and 1-cos2x and the identities above are almost always the required versions. For you question you could do two things: (1) Use...
