Accept early offer? or wait for January Round?

lmao mq requires first preferences? Sounds about right. I know other universities do it, but gee... Anyhoo, I suggest you play the game and follow the suggestions given. Just know that you are under absolutely no obligation to accept an offer from MQ or anywhere else for that matter. As soon...

So, the degree I want to transfer to (B. Security Studies) has the same ATAR requirement as the degree I'm enrolled in (B. Arts)... but requires four PICT subjects at credit level! Wow, my night is ruined. I don't need to spend 2018 stressing out. Considering going to another university... just...

Triple or four majors at Mq?

It's possible. What arts majors are you interested in? If they are similar or by the same department, you can sometimes get a single subject to count towards two majors. There is a limit (I think it's 2 subjects, none at 300 level). MQ will let you 'add on' a major if you don't have the...

Cross-institutional study for Arts @ Usyd in 2018

Currently a MQ student with too many electives, and Usyd have subjects I'm interested in. Interested in European Studies, which is sadly not offered at my university. Plus, next semester all my MQ subjects are going to be completely online so no ~campus confusion~ I 'applied' for it at...

New Students: What to do after receiving your offer

I think you ought to send an ask to mq. This can be done here Just a warning, it may take some time for you to get a response. Tends to be busy around exam times. Good luck!

My cousin, who does Law / Arts did her people & planet units in the first semester of her degree. Dual degree students have to consider how they plan their programs, which you are doing.

    alternate courses to international studies?

Late reply, but you could just pick up a BA in UNSW, and do some politics & IR (and throw in some European / Asian studies), plus a language and arrange an exchange. Plenty do that, and use the BA to find their 'niche' area.

Well, *fingers crossed* your exam turns out okay, and you can graduate ASAP.

If it's because of the People / Planet requirements... see if you can do one in Session 3. I wish MQ made the rules more clear.

People and Planet units must be in seperate faculties- but one can be in the same faculty as your degree (like, I'm in the Arts, so my people or my planet unit can be Arts. Not both). So... Planet, you could do an Arts subject, whilst for People a business one. That's just an example. Keep in...

What do you disagree with? I didn't really explain further. My original comment doesn't apply to all degrees and situations- but for your average arts or science student it does. If you have a degree with very few electives (like many Health Science degrees) then it's different. At the end of...

As for People & Planet units, I think it's best to allocate one to every year unless your degree is organised in a different, precise way with few electives. I know people who do them in their first semester, and that's fine for them but you don't want huge pressure on your first year. If...

    Is Macquarie Uni good?

Haven't been on for a while, but this question (although asked in October) lingered in my mind and made me reflect on my year at MQ. My experiences do not reflect everyone else's, and I'm not presuming that they do. But I'll say this. Macquarie is not a perfect university. Not every student...

    S1 2017 Exam results waiting/discussion thread (MQ)

Good luck everyone, I know you've all worked hard :) I personally am hoping for the distinction range, but it's really hard to predict.

Yeah, it's only a handful in the arts & humanities. Out of 4 of what I'm doing, about 2 have appeared. I assume they'll be posted when the units are uploaded onto iLearn.

I think I will go. I've realized in the past couple of days to "not put all my eggs in one basket"- so have an open mind esp about the private sector (which tbh, I never considered before). I just have no idea what to expect from a careers fair because I've never been to one. I don't know what...

Random question, but how are the graduate fairs? Worth going to? I registered for the one in August, and I dunno if its intended for first years.

Feel really lost in life... is uni right for me?

This is a good idea. There are alot of universities in Sydney that could offer potentially better courses. Don't feel as if you are 'trapped' by UNSW.

Feel really lost in life... is uni right for me?

I don't go to UNSW, but let me tell you: you aren't the only student with fails and a 50s WAM. Lots of people have been in your position. So don't be harsh on yourself, I understand it's rough and difficult (being suicidal, I've had experience in that too and it's no fun- I can't imagine what...
