Students to be taught there isn't a God in Victorian schools

Why? But that's the whole point. Christmas (despite the name) is not just about Christ. Of course many people don't "even think about Christ". Stop saying that like it's a bad thing! :p And that is exactly what this course is trying to accomplish. It is not replacing religious courses...

Well, yes, because apparently I know more about it than you do. I celebrate Christmas for what it always has been - a time of giving. Can't let the pagans have all the fun. Yep.

Students to be taught there isn't a God in Victorian schools

Apparently not. Easter and Christmas were pagan holidays (and Easter reflects it in the name: it was a celebration of Eostre/Eastre, a Germanic fertility goddess); they were chosen by early Christians as a convenient date to celebrate Birth/Resurrection of Jesus because people were ALREADY...

Students to be taught there isn't a God in Victorian schools

You know, that is a concept that I have never understood - that life has to have "meaning" (and that meaning is necessarily divined from religion). Never got it. Never will.

I don't know about you, but I don't need the validation of something that doesn't exist, and the framework of lies woven around it, to determine "truth". EDIT: Actually, I suspect I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm adult enough to admit it. *shrug*

I wouldn't call it the greatest human instinct - the greatest human brainfart, maybe. If my kids want to participate, that is their choice - when they are old enough to make that choice for themselves.

Truth and religion/the Christian bible are not mutually inclusive either :p

Do you? And do you know why those dates are significant in particular? Lol. The point is that morality, ethics and philosophy are not mutually inclusive with religion. It's time it was taught that way.

    Animorphs or Goosebumps?

As Ash said: Animorphs dealt with - War (no kidding), consequences thereof, losses thereof - Racism, bigotry, xenophobia and xenocide, genocide, loyalty - Love, loss, hatred, responsibility - Respect for life - Actions and consequences They're still awesome books. I still have them, and I still...

Firstly, it's opt-outable, and secondly, that's quite hypocritical when you consider most public primary schools even teach (Christian biblical) scripture. I had it thrown down my throat all of my public, non-religious, primary school life. Hooray for reason!
