Well, ANU's the only uni in Australia that does any sort of accommodation guarantee at all, so the OP's situation would be no better anywhere else. OP: Definitely start ringing around and checking out real estate places ASAP.

That's the rent threshold, not the payment rate, which is $111.80/fortnight.

I can understand not giving 1st years absolute priority over later years, because if you did that the on-campus population could just end up completely skewed towards 1st years with too few later year students for a healthy balance. Also the way I read that email is not that ANU will start...

As they have said many many times, accommodation is not first come first served for most halls, so it doesn't matter whether you applied back in August or whether you applied in January. (I applied in December and got into Ursies which was my 1st pref.)

That's true, it all depends on how they decide to allocate rooms and who applies for Laurus. But it should still allow a few more undergraduate spots - not enough though.

It still gives more space overall - if postgrads move into Laurus there's more space for the first years.

ANU - STUDYAT - Astronomy and Astrophysics Major is probably what you want, it's all later year courses though.

I'm not sure but judging by the lack of information one can get about ASTR1001 it may be some course that is in the process of being abolished or something. It doesn't even seem to count towards the Astrophysics major.

How easy is it to try out 1115 and drop down to 1013 within the first few weeks of semester?

Maths C is like NSW Extension 2/ACT Specialist, right? In that case then you can do 1115 and 1116. I haven't looked at the physics requirements (because I'm not doing it) but I think if you passed year 12 physics you can do Advanced Physics.

The UAS website says that if you don't have an offer by today you should advise UAS. Also make sure you've checked spam folders and logged into the accom portal in case it's an email problem.

For Maths/Physics that would depend on the level of maths/physics you did in the HSC and whether you want to do the honours level courses or whatever.

The Science code listed is a plan code, I believe, not actually a course. It's just there for some weird administrative reason - my first row reads Course Code: 4106XBSCI, Course Name: Science, Session: 4106BXARTS, Class No: Arts. ENGN1217 and 1218 are Semester 2 courses, so they don't show up...
