    Websites like THSC?

The site is fine, its just been transitioned to a new location, whoops. Yeah it will be some time before that is done. In the mean time, you have to do some sleuthing around the skeleton of what remains of the old site, once I put back online in a sec. Or use hsccentral.weebly.com as well (same...

Why a referendum? This is not Ireland or the US, where the constitution has (or used to should I say) the traditional def. of marriage. A plebiscite makes sense; a referendum does not. We are not changing the constitution.

Your example is very poor, and hinges on the assumption that you and them have the same understanding of the issues underlying {3}...

Consequentialism = ends justify the means. If there is some end worth achieving than it justifies the means. I reject such thinking to some degree of course, but others don't. It tends to be argument that does not matter with how a particular result is achieved to some degree, i.e. it finds...

    Marriage equality

Well then you actually agree well at least with the bit you quoted. It was more so a concession, then yes it really depends. Obviously on these topics, we would disagree on the specifics. The bit in bold, I actually agree with, the difference comes when you factor in the effects and consequences...

    Marriage equality

I guess the point of his comparison, albeit poor, which I kind of agree with (but not how he puts it): is to say that just because some person has some strong desire, does not mean it should be carried out... Lets consider this: 1. The fulfilment of desire, especially by hedonists/humanists...

    Marriage equality

Most would argue that these two things are not the same, the latter involves harm to another person, while the former does not. And that is how they would resolve this "apparent inconsistency"
