    How good are my subjects?

Any subject combination can get you 95+ - you just need to do well enough in them. Conversely there's no one subject combo that's guaranteed to get you a high ATAR; in fact if you pick harder courses just for the scaling you may find that you end up performing worse than if you had picked...

HECs ... when/how do you apply???

Since you pay fees per course you enrol in, you can't apply for HECS until after your enrolment is completed. The uni will give you instructions on completing your Request for Commonwealth Assistance later on, I believe most unis, including ANU, tell you to do it on enrolment day.

    my ATAR???

Re: still confused about the HSC??? This is accounted for through a process called moderation - there's a rather detailed explanation of it over at http://community.boredofstudies.org/134/atar-hsc-marks-technical-arcana/6642/explanation-hsc-marks-moderating.html if you want to know more. As...

Paying for uni? HECS vs Upfront payment

The 20% discount is for when you pay your HECS contribution upfront. A 10% bonus applies when you pay a voluntary contribution on top of your mandatory repayment after you have earned a HECS debt.

    acceptance of offer?

If you need it urgently, I believe you can phone/email the uni and get your student ID off them - I know someone who did that so he could fill out his accommodation forms.

Paying for uni? HECS vs Upfront payment

As far as I know it's based on your taxable income as reported in your return, so if you earn under the threshold for the whole year there's no compulsory repayment.

    acceptance of offer?

I know :) Yes - Ursula Hall. I got my offer email at about 3pm last Thursday, not sure why mine went through so quick whilst half the people here still don't have an offer.

Paying for uni? HECS vs Upfront payment

That is a very good point which I neglected. Taking that into account, the term deposit option is only about half as profitable, assuming average indexation of 4%pa.

    acceptance of offer?

We were unable to accept our offers for a total of 12 hours, which doesn't really qualify as ages :p And we don't need the enrolment forms for about 2-3 weeks yet, so they haven't really stuffed us around. I'm staying in college, yes.

Paying for uni? HECS vs Upfront payment

Indeed, if you can't pay the whole lot up front it might be a better option to at least pay part of the HECS up front, although if you did have the money to pay it all upfront, putting it in a 7.00%pa term deposit, compounding annually, would give you $1130 extra than paying off a 3-year...

    acceptance of offer?

All accommodation stuff is sent by email, at least for Ursies. According to my friend who has his already, it includes the enrolment form, some letters from the President of the ANUSA and some organisations like that, a CD containing the 2010 Handbook, and a few other random bits and pieces...

Paying for uni? HECS vs Upfront payment

You could quite easily make over $6K in interest if you put $20K in a term deposit over 4 years.

    acceptance of offer?

I'm about two hours north of you then. Up here it usually takes two days for mail to arrive from anywhere outside our mail region.

    acceptance of offer?

I haven't received mine yet, but I know someone who got his on Monday (although he's returning from deferment so they may have sent out his pack a bit earlier).

An accomodations manager told me if I have recieved an offer

If they're an accommodation manager at the uni you got the offer to, then they probably checked their own student records?

    acceptance of offer?

Yep. Now you just have to wait for your enrolment pack and turn up in Februrary. :)

    Centrelink - Rent Assistance

I can confirm that living at ANU makes one eligible for Rent Assistance, according to Port Macquarie Centrelink. If you receive YA/Austudy/ABSTUDY and are eligible for RA you should confirm it with them just to make sure they're aware of it and they can start payment ASAP. I believe all ANU...
