    Unsw co-op 2009

I don't think interviews are selective, my school sent a girl to Oxford in 2007 (she topped Law there this year) and my friend is over in England interviewing for Oxford at the moment.

does the school find out our ATAR?

This. Tbh, not so much of a shock for top students - most just go at the same pace (ie. working hard). In fact some people I know chill out and are even more relaxed while continuing to do well.

    Wrong HSC Assessment Ranks

^ oh what a bummer chewy  I hope it didn't affect the UAI too badly and you still got into your choice course.

    University and HSC result

Aeriff, you could very well be perfectly correct! :) :uhhuh: I was probably overhasty in my reply to Namu, because I based it on something an experienced teach of mine told me awhile ago. But hear-say is no substitute for actual info, so I did some googling, and well...basically nothing on...

    University and HSC result

I'm not sure about HSC results (as in the HSC Marks/bands etc), but I'm almost certain that universities are made aware of our ATARS before we get the notification (so the can make offers and such)

    Analyse, evaluate and critcally evaluate?

You should make this your friend: A Glossary of Key Words (HSC) - Board of Studies NSW and from that- Analyse:Identify components and the relationship between them; draw out and relate implications Evaluate:Make a judgement based on criteria; determine the value of Critically...

    A moment of clarity

Oh - I didn't notice. My apologies Btaylor. From talking to my Melbourne friends, I got the impression that Year 11 didn't count for the VCE either. In any case, I'm sure that you can definitely pull up your marks and make Year 12 the best academically. Trust me, lots of people peak in Year...

No of course not! (And you should know this jetblack!) - unless of course you were being ironic ;)

    Wrong HSC Assessment Ranks

I'm pretty sure the board DOES allow equal ranks - last year (I accelerated a subject) 3 people were on rank 1 on Assessment notice (myself included).

High ATAR = obsessive parents, selective schools, tutoring

Kakuzu11245 If I may speak frankly, That post (and your reasoning) is a whole load of bollocks. How exactly do you propose we calculate "the mark people would get with no study"? And further, how exactly do you put a numer on the exact amount of marks someone will gain in correlation to a...

    USYD scholarships

Yeah - there are many of us because Arts faculty covers a whole range of things apart from just "Arts" (ie. the social sciences, alot of the combined Laws..) no letter pour moi yet. :uhoh: Aerath: Well since they have to send us a letter, I wouldn't take no letter as bad news (ie. rejection)...

    USYD scholarships

sigh. annoying aye? well, considering Arts is the biggest faculty (with ironically the least amount of scholarships)...perhaps they're taking their time.

Well kids, however we went, History Extension HSC marking ends tomorrow. Which I suppose means that our fates are all more or less decided by then (historically speaking anyway).

    2010 Philosophy Distinction course

facebook?! ;) lol, I was slightly bored, all this time to kill... And I agree, with a subject like Philo where you're encouraged to argue and assert opinions, you do get rather...assertive types. Though by Residential 3 we were all ignoring the lecturers and either - sleeping, playing...
