Do you support the use of Torture ?

SCIENTOLOGIST DETECTED! Srsly though, without elaborating on this I might agree or disagree with you... I definitely find behavioral neuroscience to be scientific in the very least.

Do you support the use of Torture ?

The stanford prison experiment hardly classifies as a real scientific experiment, tbh.

    Meritocracy vs. Democracy

Hi plato, The thing is that if such things are what the community values, then these people will have more sway in the political system (if they so choose). I don't think we should dictate what a society should value, cause for instance I don't think sporting heros should have any more say than...

    Meritocracy vs. Democracy

We're not a democracy anyway tbqh, we have a much better system of government. We are for the most part a meritocracy in that only those who work very hard, are very shrewd, are keenly intelligent etc will rise to power in business, government or even academia. On the outside however we appear...

Why the Japanese whaling "scientists" are batshit

It would be silly for me to claim that they could be unbiased in my opinion, as much as that may be the goal and even their desire. This isn't to say that their research is to be taken with a grain of salt, definitely not, as long as the methodology is not flawed the research is fine.... My...

Why the Japanese whaling "scientists" are batshit

Tim Flannery is definitely a biologist, in fact quite the respected one from my understanding. Also I'm not particularly certain I'd want to take the word of people who have decided to devote their lives to whales, they obviously are quite fond of the creatures so I'm cautious about what would...

Why the Japanese whaling "scientists" are batshit

Kangaroos are not endangered... Neither are some whales, in fact some scientists maintain that the culling of minke whales is sustainable - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Flannery#Sustainable_whaling I wonder what endangers more whales (at least for instance minke whales), is it the small...

Australia to outlaw excessive 'golden handshakes'

When a shareholder buys a share in a company they are still subject to the constitution of the company including any provisions for corporate governance.... If you buy a share where you are told for instance that you will not have voting rights on certain matters in the prospectus or whatever...

we are too fat to work, pity us

The idea wouldn't be that there's a gene which makes you 'fat', that's just silly, more it's that there are people who are more likely, biologically, to be susceptible to over eating given the right environment. I.e. Sure there werent heaps of fatties 50 years ago, but they didn't have fast food...

Australia to outlaw excessive 'golden handshakes'

Well one thing I don't necessarily like is this idea that share holders should get a vote specifically on their payout. It matters little to me, but I think it makes more sense that they follow whatever regulations the company has set up.
