What I meant was I started on a Saturday. So some casuals had gone to the supervisor and said "I can't work X day" etc. I got those shifts. Quite often we cannot fill the roster.

I think so, I only got "leftover" shifts on my first week. And they asked me to do them. Calling up won't hurt though.

If you have three small items, you do not need two large bags.

We have CSM and 2IC - each rotate between a Mon-Sat and Tues-Fri roster. 3IC - Monday - Friday Saturday supervisor Thurs night/Sun supervisor And two of us that rotate around everyone else.

Ugh, me too. Except not for the same reasons as you, and only for one week. CSM, 3IC and main weekend supervisor are off for training, holidays and TEE respectively. This leaves four of us. We are so desperate that our weekend smokeshop operator has been doing proper supervisor training for...

Why? Rosters are perfectly easy to read. My store leaves spare paper next to the wall, you write your shifts down. If you have trouble, ask a supervisor. Not hard at all.
