Will my ATAR get me into B Writing & Cultural Studies?

The ATAR for this course is 90.25 but I scored 89.60. What's the likelihood of them accepting me? I heard ages ago that they can be lenient when the mark is close enough (Say within 2 marks). Additionally, I live in a rural area, so I might get that taken into account. Anyone know? I'm a bit...

    Queensland system?

Yes, that would definitely make sense. Queensland's ranking system is to do with OPs, ranked from 1-25. 1 is the best, 25 is the lowest. For the majority of Queensland courses, the average entry rank is around 10-15, so yes, I would assume that 14 would be the required OP to enter that course...

    General Thoughts - Ancient History

Overall it was pretty spectacular. Section I - sweet Section II - also sweet Section III - a little unexpected, but sweet Section IV - ran out of time, but I condensed my writing enough to get all of my points in Hopefully gonna get 20+ for all sections. Band 6 would be excellent! :)

    Section III - Personalities

I did Akhenaten. I think I did quite well - I used PLENTY of sources, espeically for the b) question. Hopefully will get 20+

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Very happy with Section I and III. Didn't finish Section II. Overall, it was a good paper :) I feel better about it than about Paper 2

    General Thoughts: SOR 2

Section III was terrible. Apparently the BOS said that the questions were drawn from our studies of Ethics or Practices. I used examples from Marriage in Judaism, so that's a relief. As for the peace question, it wasn't too bad. Took me a minute to comprehend what it was asking, then went on...

Estimate what you got and how many pages?

    Can't quite remember how many pages I did... Section 1 - 5 pages - 14/15. Section 2 - 6 pages - 10/15 (Didn't finish...). Section 3 - 5.5 pages - 13/15.

    what speeches did you do

I did Suu Kyi and Atwood. I said that Suu Kyi deals with issues of justice and while Atwood's sppech has overtones of justice, it is not a key issue in her speech. Hurray for making a judgement!

Anyone who did Julius Caesar..look please

The question wasn't too bad. I think I did well in the profound insight part but kinda failed in the diverse bit. Didn't write enough, either. I basically talked about how the notions of right or wrong (justice) come down to perspective. There is no clear definition of right or wrong, and it...

    Akhenatens relationship with the Aten

I would mention a few things: Akhenaten as the sole mediator between the Egyptians & the Aten (Quote from the Hymn to the Aten: "There is no other who knows you") ), The change in kingship (i.e. Elevation of kingly status to a divine being rather than being the representative of the...

    Amduat? Book of the Dead?

I'm slightly confused - are the Amduat and Book of the Dead the same thing? If not, what are the differences?

Module C Syllabus - slightly confused...

In the syllabus it says: "Students are also required to supplement this study with texts of their own choosing which provide a variety of representations of that event, personality or situation. These texts are to be drawn from a variety of sources, in a range of genres and media." I'm...

Highlighting/underlining key words in exam essays?

Fair point on the use of blue and black pen. If I do choose to draw attention to my key points in the essay I'll be sure to underline from now on. :) Thanks for your opinion, much appreciated :)

Highlighting/underlining key words in exam essays?

It would seem that my question has been slightly misunderstood...See, it's not an issue of whether I should highlight/underline the key points in the question, it's whether I should highlight/underline the key points in my response/essay. So, following on from your example - How is CVD...

Highlighting/underlining key words in exam essays?

My PDHPE teachers always tell their classes to highlight/underline the key topics in their essays. So, for example, when writing about the National Health Priority Areas we highlight the words CVD, Cancer, Injury, Diabetes, Nature of Problem, Extent of Problem, etc. My history teacher, who is...
