Hey guys, just wondering does anyone know if attending the lectures is actually necessary for phys1131? I learn much better by reading stuff and thus attend only lectures when absolutely necessary, would the textbook cover all tested areas (to the point that I could get an HD by just going...
Alrighty thanks :) Also I heard that the 1131/1141 students get a booklet of commands for their maple test, do we get something similar for our matlab test?
I've only managed to get a 9 and 8 in my calculus test so far and screwed up my algebra test really bad. Does this severely disadvantage my chances of getting an HD in 1151?
Hey guys I've been having trouble with the proofs section in discrete mathematics, I haven't been having trouble with the previous sections (I couldn't do at most 1 or 2 questions per section) however I'm finding a significant amount of questions I can't do for this section. Any past students...
Does anyone else find the way the lectures are laid out somewhat confusing? For algebra I find the way vectors are explained very non intuitive and for calculus the lecture is a bit all over the place, jumping from topic to topic. I have no problem following and understanding the course notes...
Sorry, somewhat hijacking this thread but I didn't think this warranted a new one, what about the math1081 textbook? Would I need that, or are the course notes way better?
I've been able to find all my first year textbooks in ebook format (I'm doing the maths/commerce degree at unsw) apart for the textbook required for computing which I find pretty funny so yeah quite a few textbooks can be bought in ebook format. (as izzy said wait until the textbook list is...
Hmm okay although I don't like the idea of potentially missing out on the last 10 minutes of my lecture. Do they give any important info during that time bracket?
I have but it is somewhat ambiguous, the academic rules page (http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/faculties/2012/comm/AcadRulesBCom.html) states:
"A minimum of 24 UOC of courses must be completed before enrolling in Level 2 courses."
However it fails to mention if they must be commerce courses or not.
Also doing adv maths/commerce with an actuarial major in mind. I'm planning on doing Maths1151, Sciff1121, Math1081, Comp1917 for semester one and Math1251, Actl1001, Fins1613, Comp1927 for semester two (somewhat unconventional I know.) I intend to complete more of the commerce flexible core...
Thanks a lot for the insight it's really appreciated, I've already been learning a bit of c++ in my spare time and plan on taking first year computing next year so I'll probably have that covered. I guess the best course of action would be to start out with a combined degree and if I don't like...
