how badly will english standard impact my atar?

Standard doesn't affect your atar too much, I got: Standard English - 87 Maths 3u - 99 Maths 4u - 98 Chemistry - 89 Physics - 91 and I ended up with an atar of 98.70. Getting a 90+ atar with standard english is pretty much as doable as getting a 90+ atar with advanced english

    4U Polynomial question HELP !!

    can't do the question right now but i assume that this is how you do it: since x^3 + 3ax^2 + 3bx + c = 0 has a double root then this means that p(x) = x^3 + 3ax^2 + 3bx + c has a double zero. let this double zero be y. then p(y) = 0 and p'(y) = 0. this means that y^3 + 3ay^2 + 3by + c = 0 and...

^ If you underperform in trials, but your overall ranking is still fine, then you will be okay

    Is my HSC doomed?

Not doing well in your trials will definitely impact your ATAR, but you can still work hard for the HSC exams, which may result in an 80+ ATAR.

    Past Papers

If you don't have enough time to memorise all the content and do multiple past papers, you should definitely consider trying to do as much of a past paper as possible. If you are stuck, only then do you get out your notes and then answer the question

    Trig Proof - Help Please

    tan(pi/4 + x) = (tan(pi/4) + tan(x))/(1 - tan(pi/4)tan(x)) (tan expansion formula) = (1 + tan(x))/(1 - tan(x)) = (cos(x) + tan(x)cos(x))/(cos(x) - tan(x)cos(x)) (multiplying the top and bottom by cos(x)) = (cos(x) + sin(x))/(cos(x) - sin(x))
