I'm currently doing 14 units for year 11:

- English Adv - 1
- English Ext - 1
- Chemistry - 7
- Physics - 9
- Maths Adv - 15
- Maths Ext - 20
- Modern History - 1
- Society and Culture - 1 <--- These are my rankings

I want to pick up History Ext.

Should I drop any subjects or take 15 units into my HSC as well as a job, captaincy and volunteering.

Am I crazy :/

take 15 in and drop to 12 gradually as u find the workload too tough.
some subjects u mention above are quite gruelling like eng adv and eng ext. so when u find the workload too tough in yr 12 u will hav to drop a few units.

All signs point to yes.

Drop something definitely in yr 12.

I knew one of the International students was doing 16 units at one point (Standard English, Maths, Maths E1, D&T, Physics, Legal, Chemesty, Chinese Background Speakers, and something else) but now has dropped Physics because she found the workload too hard.

Only keep 11 units. You will do better in your final exams as you will have more time to put into your subjects, rather than having less knowledge due to less time studying it. I'm doing 10 units, but it is always good to have one or two extra, not 5 extra.

I was thinking about dropping down to 13 units and getting rid of physics because it's a pain but I just found out that I came first in one of my assessments. So i think i might just wait until prelims...

I think you are crazy. I would never advise doing more than 13 u concurrently at HSC level. Imho, 11 or 12 is a good amount, bit of backup and safety but not too overloading.

14+ is way too timepoor! What do the numbers mean next to your subjects?

Lol I see the arrow now, what's your school rank?

I'd say if you really want to do Hist Ext, pick it up but drop your worst 2u subject after final prelim ranks.

Personally I think you should do 15 units if you can manage. But it would be advisable to do less. But then again, I am called crazy also.

What's wrong with society o_O
I think its because relative to your other subjects, society and culture is perceived to be one of those things that are not really a subject. Like abo studies. Or whatever cafs is. (No offense)

I reckon if you genuinely enjoy all your subjects and can manage your time well, then go for it,, but constantly be thinking about which course you are worse at/find hard to manage and drop it. Because in year12 some courses likee physics get significantly more difficult or content heavy compared to preliminary

Like you can try out history extension but remember it is a ridiculous amount of work for one unit. In addition to learning a whole course you have to do a project. My history extension class started off with 20ish people, and now only has around 5 (I dropped too)

15 units for the hsc is a lot of unecessary extra work and pressure. Especialy if you're gonna be school captain, that will take up a lot of your time if you take it seriouslly.
