well i think it depends on which units you are doing. For example for my stat 170 I only need one book for writing lectures because my tutes I have worksheets. But for like psy 104, I would have two because (today's experience) the lectures tend to get messy and they are all over the place and in the tutes I think you would write more essays or discussions.

but it's better if you ask someone with more experience i only been to two days of lecture.

The thing I'm finding a little strange is how less structured the learning appears to be from High School, like, in school we'd know *exactly* what we need to know and how to write it, but take the PSY104 lecture today with the names/time frame/theories - I can't tell what exactly we need to take from it. I suppose everything but still we only glossed over things anyway so I don't know if we need to know text book detail on these subjects or just the points on the slides kind of thing.

Will we find more out about this in the Tuts/Practicals?

lol the lecturer was rushing so much info to my head and i am just typing the lectures right and it made so much more sense. From today's lecture probs just general history and also that there are two ideologies back then. I think reading the book is actually interesting than the actual lecture (well in today's case anywy). I think you should listen to the lecture again when you are not panicking with writing notes.

assuming I am seeing you there tomorrow morning?

Yes I'll be there. In the Text Book I noticed they gloss over empircal/rationalism with a bunch of other things that weren't even mentioned in the lecture (mental versus physical, individualism versus relationality) making it more confusing. But whatever I suppose it'll all work out.

/OT Is there an atheist society at Macquarie? (The UNSW thread reminded me)

I know! The roll call thing made it feel like high school lol. I was near the bottom left exit, so luckily it wasn't too bad for me either. And I agree, the lecture was really really interesting :) I can't wait to start studying the topics like Psychological Problems and Personality.

I love all my subjects so far :)
Ooh what have you been to so far?

I did my first class (Egyptian Ceramics) on Monday. Christiana is fantastic, so the subject should be great hopefully. Are you doing 100? I'd be interested to see who tutors for it...

I did the core AH honours subject tonight - the convener is awesome, but all the lectures are on fucking classical history which I honestly neither care about nor have the time for. At least the assignments will be sort of constructive to thesis writing, but it looks like the classes will be a massive waste of time. :-(

Rofl, watching all the educ first years take down notes at once on a slide which had "Educational Psychology has been around for about 100 years" made me laugh.
