Australia's ball control/passing needs to improve significantly imo though the fact they kept pushing is actually really commendable

Mate that's common sense given that European players will take forever to adjust to Summer in South America, in the tropical climate in high humidity and over 35 degrees Celsius heat.

That's the only reason why Australia would even have a chance to not come 4th in the group lol.
I'm pretty sure it's winter in South America right now.

disappointment from ange and timmy evident in the interviews. ange looked like he really believed in the boys and they had clearly worked hard to get chem and were looking for points. was on the verge of tears

was pretty impressed by how they did in the second half, in fact i would say they were way more committed to play than chile at that point and were very much still in the game for a lot of that half

definitely. as one of the sbs boys said ange's subs were almost ideal. only thing I disagreed with was halloran, but then again im not too familiar with the australian team so not sure if there was a better alternative.

Woke up at 5 in the morning for the Spain match.

RVP's goal I just sat there going "wtf just happened"

And then when Casillas... well, I think we'll now call it "Casillas"-ed it, same thing.

Anyway for the Socceroos match.... we played well. Not like Germany four years ago where we played the famous 10-0-0 formation and got thwacked 4-0. I like the fact that we tried.

That RVP goal was insane - I needed the slow motion to figure out how it went in. I'm kind of glad Spain lost that badly - I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end for them because having seen them at Euro and in the last World Cup, they are dead boring to watch. I'd much rather see the Dutch, Brazil or Germany play to be honest.
