is fitz pat really all that good? i flicked through it once and it wasn't really all that appealing. the whole book is black and white text and everything looks crammed on every page. do people do all the questions in the book?

Well, the main point is the questions. You do as much as you need to do.

My school also uses MIF. I need to get a new text book for some extra practice. Which is better for 2u in your opinion (and by you I'm referring to anyone reading this post), Cambridge or Fitz?

Use the excel fast-track thing for hsc practice , which has lots of hsc style questions and summaries. Understanding maths is good if you ALREADY understand it and use it as a summary book. But if you don't get the content, try Cambridge/Fitz.

excel is shit. I bought an excel book for yr 10 maths. I still ended up getting 80 for it (which is what i thought i would of got anyways). Cambridge looks heaps worse than fitz. by this thread and what i have seen in the real world. I'm saying fitz is probably best bet out there. PS: anyone know when the maths syllabus was last updated?

um, I wouldn't think you've seen the book I'm mentioning. It's like one of those http://www.pascalpress.com.au/EXCEL-HSC-Fast-Track-Step-by-Step-Study-Guide-p/9781741252989.htm , but you can get the 2u ones as well (cbb finding it). And for the question of choosing cam or fitz, I'd say it's a matter of personal preference cos ppl achieving great results could be using either one of them.

No you don't, you do the questions that are relevant to you/those you can do.

Good luck getting tutoring students with that attitude.

3U was introduced in 1981 and they took out 3D analytical geometry in 1985 or something. 4U was introduced in 1981 and they added graphs and harder 3U in 1989 (and took out a bit on circles in conic sections).

Just on the question of Excel Fast Track Step-By-Step for 2U, where can I get it/can i get it? I've tried my local bookstore and they told me it's not printed anymore.

um, I think there used to be HSC questions sorted out by topic in the resource section. now it's gone, but I got them printed out anyway
it would be really good if you scanned your copy and put it back up.
