Yes, though if you're very competent at maths, it should be fine for you. Grab a textbook and see what the work is like.

Extension 2 is to Extension 1 what Extension 1 is to 2 Unit. Conic sections are evil, as you'll quickly discover, but if you're good at Extension 1 you should be alright at Extension 2.

Conics is just a lot of algebra and recognising stuff.

Hmmmm I dunno. I've found 4U to be a pretty big jump in comparison to 2U-3U. It seems more abstract in comparison to what we're used to.

Definitely agreed with the Conic Sections are evil statement.

This. I've found the level of difficulty separating 2U/3U and 4U almost chasm-like. On the contrary, the difference between 3U and 2U, in my opinion, isn't that great.

Also agreed with the conics part. Ugh...

@OP, instead of *already* considering 4U, why don't you just work on establishing a strong mathematical foundation during your prelim year? You'll find things will flow from there.

I find a considerable jump between 3U and 2U. Haven't finished 4U to compare it to 3U
I haven't done all 3U topics to judge completely, but so far I still think that 2U to 3U isn't really that much of a jump.

Conics is only hard if you're scared of long lines of working out, get over that and it's relatively fluid

I find 4unit around the same gap to 3unit as 2 unit to 3unit. Also, the course flows nicely and links well, compared to 3unit maths it's all over the place! Just make sure you do lots of practice and you'll be fine :D

I would say to think of 4unit as probably most of your knowledge and skills learned from 2-3 units + a couple of bits in 4u into one question
