Oh it's not really that bad.
I mean Pompeii and Herculaneum is a terrible topic but once yet get through that the rest of the course is alright. Do you know what you'll be studying yet?
Really? What didn't you like about it?

Agreed. A really lack lustre topic over-focusing on archaeology and rote-learning of a variety of semi-connected facts which are themselves intrinsically boring.

That said, Fall of the Republic and Caesar are excellent topics.

Out of the three options, don't you have to study two or more areas? i.e. not three from egypt.

You have to study two areas but Pompeii is counted as a Roman topic so doing the other three from Egypt, Greece or Near East is perfectly possible.

I'm just finishing year 11 ancient history, all Iknow is that next term we are starting our society option: Sparta to the battle of Leuctra, looks interesting enough, just as long as we're not doing Egypt - hate it since year 7. . .I don't know what we're doing for the other options.

Pumped and ready to go!

to those who are doing Xerxes as your personality: good luck.

Pompeii and Herc were pretty good

greek wars-pretty good

Sparta was awesome... our teacher borrowed javelins from the p.e department and we got to be spartan hoplites on the oval (so so so much fun)...
